Position Summary

Jet Aviation seeks a highly experienced and safety-focused Pilot-in-Command (PIC) to join a prestigious, long-standing Part 91 flight operation, renowned for its commitment to safety and superior service. The PIC reports directly to the Lead Captain regarding all company operating policies and procedures.

The Pilot-in-Command is entrusted with the critical responsibility for the safe and efficient conduct of all assigned flights, maintaining a paramount emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The PIC will exercise final authority over the safe conduct of the flight and must ensure absolute compliance with all operational regulations and company standards.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform key functions integral to the flight department’s success, including but not limited to:

  • Safely operating the aircraft, determining optimal departure times and routes, and making critical decisions regarding flight cancellation based on prevailing weather or operational conditions.
  • Ensuring comprehensive adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout all phases of flight.
  • Instituting necessary in-flight changes required by en route conditions, always maintaining strict compliance with established company guidelines.
  • Conducting the flight in a safe, prudent, and professional manner, aligning with the highest industry and company safety standards.
  • Completing all trip paperwork accurately and promptly in accordance with current administrative procedures.
  • Maintaining a thorough and complete understanding of all operational aspects with the Second in Command (SIC).
  • Documenting all aircraft discrepancies on the discrepancy log and immediately reporting issues to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or their designee.
  • Consulting the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and coordinating with the DOM to determine if an inoperative item can be deferred or requires immediate repair, completing required aircraft discrepancy log entries.
  • Verifying that the flight crew reports for duty in proper uniform, and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Maintaining a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and associated procedures.
  • Securing the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage when necessary or instructed by company management.
  • Obtaining the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from authorized FAA flight service stations or other agencies.
  • Filing or directing the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or the relevant ICAO state Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility.
  • Analyzing area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and designated alternates.
  • Performing the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) as mandated by the applicable security program (Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program).
  • Conducting the required passenger safety briefings or delegating this duty to the Second in Command.
  • Actively mentoring and imparting knowledge and skills to the SIC to prepare them to assume Pilot-in-Command duties in an emergency or upon upgrade.
  • Completing and transmitting the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
  • Completing and transmitting the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon conclusion of each flight day.
  • Taking an active role in supporting the open sharing of information regarding safety issues and promptly reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
  • Immediately reporting any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
  • The Pilot-in-Command retains ultimate responsibility for all delegated duties.
  • Performing other required duties as needed.
  • Representing Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

Candidates must meet the following stringent criteria:

  • Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Total Fixed Wing Flight Time: 3,500 hours.
  • Multi-Engine Land Time: 1,500 hours.
  • Pilot-in-Command Time: 2,000 hours.
  • Turbojet Time: 1,500 hours.
  • Turbine Time: 1,500 hours.
  • Night Flight Time: 100 hours.
  • Actual or Simulated Instrument Time: 75 hours.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional aviation experience.
  • Must be capable of working flexible schedules, often on short notice.
  • Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands

Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The employee must be capable of working effectively in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer service areas. The typical noise level is usually moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals and departures. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and may occasionally encounter fuel fumes. Employees must be willing and able to operate in all types of weather conditions. The hangar environment may experience extreme temperatures (both hot and cold) during different seasons of the year, with a generally loud noise level.
