Position Summary
The Pilot in Command is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments for a legacy Part 91 account, known for its strong history of safety and service. Reporting to the Lead Captain, this role prioritizes safety, security, and quality in all operations. The Pilot in Command holds ultimate authority for the safe execution of all assigned flights, ensuring adherence to company operating policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 3,500 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1,500 hours Turbine flight time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Instrument flight time (actual or simulated).
- A minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
- A valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate aircraft, determining departure times, routes, and flight cancellations based on weather or operational conditions.
- Ensure all flights are conducted in strict compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implement necessary flight plan adjustments due to en route conditions to maintain adherence to company policies and rules.
- Conduct all flights in a safe, prudent manner, upholding industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all required trip paperwork in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure clear and comprehensive communication with the Second in Command regarding all flight aspects.
- Document and report all aircraft discrepancies immediately to the Director of Maintenance or designee, determining deferral or repair requirements per the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
- Verify flight crew readiness, including proper attire and mental/physical fitness for duty.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft post-flight, arranging for hangar storage as necessary or instructed.
- Obtain current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.
- File flight plans with the FAA or ICAO Air Traffic Control facilities.
- Analyze en route and terminal charts for intended landing airports and alternates.
- Function as the In-flight Security Coordinator (ISC) as required by applicable security programs.
- Conduct passenger safety briefings or assign this duty to the Second in Command.
- Mentor and train the Second in Command to prepare them for assuming PIC duties in emergencies or during upgrades.
- Submit leg manifests to operations control prior to each departure.
- Submit End of Day (EOD) reports to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support open sharing of information on all safety matters and report safety hazards and concerns.
- Report any hazardous actions, conduct, or events immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Note: The Pilot in Command may delegate duties but not the responsibility for those duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Represent Jet Aviation effectively as a unified company, both internally and externally, with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands
Employees performing the essential functions of this job must be able to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or reach. Frequent standing, walking, or sitting is required. Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. Employees must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds overhead. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This role requires the ability to work in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer-facing areas. The noise level can vary from moderate to loud, particularly during aircraft arrivals and departures. Employees may be exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. The work environment includes a willingness and ability to operate in all types of weather conditions. Hangar environments may experience extreme temperatures during different seasons.
