Jet Aviation seeks a highly skilled and safety-conscious Captain for its Gulfstream 550 operations based in Teterboro, New Jersey. The Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of all flight assignments, serving as the final authority for flight operations.
Position Summary
The Pilot in Command reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for ensuring flights are conducted with the utmost emphasis on safety, security, and quality. This role involves exercising command authority over all assigned flights.
Minimum Requirements

Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating

Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate

3500 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time

1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time

2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time

1500 hours Turbojet flight time

1500 hours Turbine flight time

100 hours Night flight time

75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time

5 years of aviation experience

Ability to work flexible schedules

Main Responsibilities
-
Safely operate the aircraft, including determining departure times, routes, and flight cancellation based on conditions.

Ensure complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
-
Implement necessary changes to flight plans based on en route conditions, adhering to company policies and procedures.
-
Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, in accordance with industry and company standards.
-
Accurately complete all trip paperwork as per current procedures.
-
Ensure a thorough understanding of all flight aspects with the second in command.

Record and report aircraft discrepancies to the director of maintenance or designee, determining deferral or repair needs per the approved MEL.
-
Verify flight crew readiness, including attire, mental, and physical fitness for duty.

Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.

Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage as necessary or instructed.

Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.

File flight plans with the FAA or ICAO state ATC facility.

Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for intended landing airports and alternates.

Perform In-TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) duties as applicable under the Standard Security Program.

Conduct passenger safety briefings or assign this duty to the second in command.

Mentor the second in command to prepare them for emergency situations and upgrade to Pilot in Command.

Complete and submit the leg manifest to ops control prior to each departure.

Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to ops control upon completion of each flight day.

Actively support open sharing of information on all safety issues and report safety hazards and concerns.

Report any hazardous action, conduct, or event immediately to the chief pilot and director of safety.

While duties may be delegated, responsibility for those duties remains with the Pilot in Command.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Represent Jet Aviation as a unified company internally and externally.

Physical Demands
Employees may be required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or reach. Frequent standing, walking, or sitting is necessary. Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. Employees must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment
Employees will work in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. Noise levels can range from moderate to occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals/departures. Exposure to vibration is frequent, and occasional fuel fumes may be present. Employees must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions. The hangar environment may experience extreme temperatures during certain seasons.
