Position Summary
Jet Aviation is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Pilot in Command to join its global team. Reporting to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command holds ultimate responsibility for the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flight operations. This role demands exceptional leadership, a meticulous focus on safety and quality, and the unwavering exercise of final authority over all aspects of flight assignments.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum 3,500 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- Minimum 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours Turbine flight time.
- Minimum 100 hours Night flight time.
- Minimum 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- At least five (5) years of professional aviation experience.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without restrictions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
The Pilot in Command will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key duties:
- Operate aircraft safely and efficiently, determining departure times, routes, and flight cancellations based on operational conditions and weather.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures for every flight.
- Initiate and implement necessary changes for en route conditions to maintain adherence to appropriate company policies and procedures.
- Conduct flights prudently, upholding the highest industry and company safety standards.
- Accurately complete all required trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Foster clear and comprehensive understanding with the Second in Command regarding all flight aspects.
- Document all aircraft discrepancies on the discrepancy log as they occur, reporting them immediately to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or designee. Determine deferral or repair needs based on the Approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and DOM directives, completing the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Verify that flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are physically and mentally fit.
- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including all emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies (e.g., FAA flight service).
- File, or ensure the filing of, flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and designated alternates.
- Perform duties as the In-TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) as required by applicable security programs.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the Second in Command.
- Mentor and impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command, preparing them for potential Pilot in Command duties in an emergency or for future upgrades.
- Complete and transmit the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and transmit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and promptly report all safety hazards and concerns to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Understand that while duties may be delegated, the ultimate responsibility for those duties remains with the Pilot in Command.
- Undertake other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation professionally as one cohesive entity, both internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those encountered by an employee performing the essential functions of this job. The role necessitates working in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. While the typical noise level is usually moderate, it can become high during aircraft arrivals and departures. Employees are frequently exposed to vibration and occasionally to fuel fumes. The ability to work in all weather conditions is essential. Hangar environments may experience extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, depending on the season, and the overall noise level in some areas can be loud.
