Position Summary
Reporting to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command is integral to the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments, with paramount emphasis on safety, security, and quality. This role exercises full Pilot in Command authority on all assigned flights, serving as the final authority for the safe execution of each operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining departure times, routes, and executing flight cancellations based on weather or other critical conditions.
- Ensure meticulous compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures during flight operations.
- Implement necessary changes based on en route conditions to ensure flights continue in accordance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Complete all required trip paperwork accurately according to current procedures.
- Foster a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of flight.
- Record aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and report them immediately to the Director of Maintenance or designee. Refer to the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and, as directed by the DOM or designee, determine deferral or repair requirements, completing the log accordingly.
- Confirm the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire, mentally alert, and physically fit.
- Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized sources.
- File or ensure the filing of flight plans with the FAA or relevant ICAO ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for intended landing and alternate airports.
- Execute duties as the In-flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under applicable security programs.
- Conduct or assign passenger safety briefings.
- Provide knowledge and skill transfer to the Second in Command to prepare them for potential emergency assumption of Pilot in Command duties or future upgrades.
- Complete and submit the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completing each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of safety information and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- May delegate duties but retains full responsibility.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as a unified entity internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing time.
- Minimum 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land time.
- Minimum 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command time.
- Minimum 1500 hours Turbojet time.
- Minimum 1500 hours Turbine time.
- Minimum 100 hours Night time.
- Minimum 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument time.
- Minimum 5 years of aviation experience.
- Flexibility to work variable schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively without restrictions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands
The employee must meet the physical demands representative of performing the essential job functions. While performing duties, the employee is required to use hands and fingers, handle, feel, or reach. Frequent standing, walking, or sitting is required. Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their head. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment
The work environment is representative of conditions encountered during essential job functions. The employee must be able to work in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. Noise levels are typically moderate but may become high during aircraft arrivals/departures. Frequent exposure to vibration is expected. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in varying weather conditions. Hangar environments can experience extreme temperatures depending on the season.
