Position Summary
The Pilot in Command reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for adhering to company operating policies and procedures. This role involves the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments, with a strong emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command exercises authority over all assigned flights and holds the final responsibility for the safe execution of each flight.
Minimum Requirements
- Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbine flight time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument time.
- Minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without restrictions.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Operates the aircraft safely, determines departure times and routes, and cancels flights based on weather or other conditions as necessary.
- Ensures that the flight is conducted in complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Institutes all necessary changes as required by en route conditions to ensure the flight continues under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Responsible for conducting the flight in a safe and prudent manner in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Completes all trip paperwork accurately and in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensures a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Records all aircraft discrepancies as they occur on the aircraft discrepancy log and reports them immediately to the Director of Maintenance or designee. Refers to the approved MEL as directed by the DOM or designee to determine if an inoperative item can be deferred or requires repair, completing the aircraft discrepancy log accordingly.
- Determines that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintains a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized to operate, including all emergency systems and procedures associated with the aircraft.
- Secures the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtains the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- Files or causes a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyzes area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Performs the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the applicable standard security program (Twelve Five or Private Charter).
- Conducts the required passenger safety briefings or assigns the duty to the Second in Command.
- Imparts knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when upgrading to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Completes and sends the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Completes and sends the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Takes an active role in supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Responsible for making an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- The Pilot in Command may delegate these duties but not the responsibility for those duties.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Represents Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals/departures. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the hangar environment is usually loud and may experience extreme hot and cold temperatures depending on the season.
