Position Summary
The Captain AW 139 Helicopter reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of all assigned flight operations. The Captain exercises authority over all flights, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the AW 139 Helicopter, including determining departure times and routes, and cancelling flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations and policies.
- Institute necessary changes in flight plans as required by en route conditions.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Maintain a thorough understanding with the co-pilot regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and report these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance.
- Determine the flight crew's fitness for duty, ensuring they are mentally and physically prepared.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage if necessary.
- Obtain current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from authorized sources.
- File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended airport of landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the applicable security program.
- Conduct passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the co-pilot.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the co-pilot to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties but not responsibility.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with an appropriate AW 139 Aircraft Type Rating.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 2500 total hours.
- 1500 Helicopter hours.
- 500 Turbine hours.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without restrictions.
- Valid driver's license.

Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds above the head.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
- Work in both a heavy maintenance environment and upscale customer areas.
- Moderate noise levels with occasional high volume when aircrafts arrive/depart.
- Frequent exposure to vibration.
- Occasional fuel fumes.
- Willingness and ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Loud noise levels in the hangar environment.
- Extreme hot and cold temperatures in the hangar during certain seasons.
