Aviation Systems Technology Instructor

Key Responsibilities
The Aviation Systems Technology Instructor will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties aimed at student development and program excellence, including:
- Developing, preparing, and teaching Aviation Systems Technology courses in strict adherence to the approved FAA Part 147 manual.
- Creating and managing an effective instructional environment that responds to diverse student needs and promotes active learning.
- Modeling exemplary employability skills, professionalism, and ethical conduct for students and colleagues.
- Fostering cooperative work relationships with other faculty, staff, and college administration.
- Actively participating in the overall affairs of the college and efficiently supporting administrative requirements.
- Maintaining superior competency and staying current with advancements in all assigned instructional fields.
- Collaborating proactively with business and industry partners to provide relevant training and educational opportunities, ensuring curriculum alignment with industry demands.
Required Technical Competencies
Candidates must possess the ability to both demonstrate correct operational procedures and effectively supervise student operation in a majority of the following critical aviation systems and practices:
- Flight Controls and Rigging
- Landing Gear Systems
- Engine Systems (including reciprocating and turbine engines)
- Pneumatic Systems
- Hydraulic Systems
- Electrical Power Generation and Distribution
- Aircraft Instrument Systems
- Navigation and Communication Systems
- Sheet Metal Fabrication and Repair
- Composite Structures Repair
- Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and related compliance
- Aircraft Forms and Records Management
- Welding Techniques specific to aviation applications
Qualifications and Requirements
- Applicants must meet all Transportation Security Administration (TSA) badging requirements necessary to function within the Airport Operating Area at Piedmont Triad International (PTI) airport.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role encompasses a dynamic work schedule and requires specific physical capabilities:
- Ability to teach courses during day, evening, and/or weekend hours as dictated by program needs.
- Capability to lift and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds.
- Capacity for extended periods of standing and walking within laboratory and hangar environments.
- Proficiency in qualifying on and safely operating various equipment and machinery integral to the Aviation Systems Technology program.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully complete comprehensive practical and theoretical testing in all areas of instruction.
