Position Summary
The Pilot in Command (PIC) for the Lear 45 is entrusted with the paramount responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the assigned aircraft. This critical role necessitates strict adherence to all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), comprehensive company policies, and established operational procedures. The PIC will meticulously manage all facets of flight preparation and execution, encompassing critical crew coordination, diligent risk management, and exemplary passenger service. The PIC serves as the ultimate authority for all decisions pertaining to the aircraft and its operation.
This specific account involves a Lear 45 aircraft operated within a three-pilot flight department based in Orlando, Florida, with an anticipated annual utilization of approximately 300 flight hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Flight Operations: Assumes the role of Pilot in Command, exercising final authority for the safe conduct of all assigned flights. Ensures strict compliance with all FAA regulations, company flight operations manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Pre-flight Planning: Conducts exhaustive pre-flight planning, including detailed weather analysis, precise performance calculations, optimized routing, thorough fuel planning, and comprehensive aircraft airworthiness inspections. Verifies that all flight preparations align with company and regulatory standards.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM): Upholds a superior standard of crew coordination and communication throughout all flight phases. Leads the flight crew in executing duties with the utmost professionalism, efficiency, and cooperation, actively fostering a culture of robust teamwork and safety.
- Passenger Service: Delivers an exceptional level of customer service, prioritizing the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of all passengers. Serves as the primary liaison for clients during flight operations, adeptly addressing any concerns or accommodating special requests.
- Safety Management: Actively participates in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), championing a proactive safety culture. Employs risk analysis tools to identify and mitigate potential hazards and contributes to safety audits and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Provides mentorship and guidance to First Officers and other flight crew members. Ensures all crew members possess a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities, delivering precise direction and constructive feedback to foster professional development.
- Post-flight Duties: Completes all requisite post-flight documentation, including comprehensive trip reports, accurate logbook entries, and any relevant maintenance or operational notes. Reports any observed safety concerns or equipment issues promptly to the maintenance team.
- Regulatory Compliance: Guarantees that all flight operations strictly adhere to FAA regulations. Maintains currency with all required training, medical certifications, and company policies. Ensures flight crew records are consistently updated and accurate.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Flight Experience: Minimum of 5,000 total flight hours.
- 2,500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
- 2,500 hours in multi-engine land aircraft, with 1,500 hours as multi-engine PIC.
- 2,000 hours in turbine aircraft and 500 hours of instrument time.
- Certifications: Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with a multi-engine land rating is mandatory.
- Current First-Class Medical Certificate is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit.
- Previous experience in Part 135 operations is highly desirable.
