Position Summary:

George J. Priester Aviation is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Pilot in Command (PIC) for a dedicated Part 91 operation. The PIC is entrusted with the critical responsibility for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of assigned aircraft. This includes ensuring adherence to all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and standard operating procedures. The role requires comprehensive management of all flight phases, encompassing thorough preparation, skilled execution, effective crew coordination, rigorous risk management, and delivering exemplary passenger service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to safety and client satisfaction. The Pilot in Command serves as the ultimate authority on all decisions pertaining to the aircraft and its operation during assigned duty periods.

This specific position supports a private account operating a Lear 45 aircraft within a two-pilot flight department. The operation is based primarily (60%) in St. Louis, MO, with significant activity (40%) in Denver, CO, and is projected to operate approximately 150 hours per year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Pilot in Command performs a range of critical duties, including but not limited to:

  • **Flight Operations:** Acting as the Pilot in Command with final authority for the safe and legal operation of the aircraft on all flights, ensuring strict adherence to FAA regulations, company flight operations manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • **Pre-flight Planning:** Conducting detailed pre-flight analysis and planning, including comprehensive weather assessments, performance calculations, route optimization, fuel planning, and thorough aircraft airworthiness inspections, ensuring all preparations meet company and regulatory standards.
  • **Crew Resource Management (CRM):** Maintaining robust crew coordination and communication throughout all flight phases, leading the crew in performing duties professionally, efficiently, and collaboratively, and cultivating a strong safety culture.
  • **Passenger Service:** Providing the highest standard of customer service, prioritizing passenger safety, comfort, and satisfaction. Serving as the primary point of contact for clients during flights, addressing concerns and special requests with professionalism.
  • **Safety Management:** Actively participating in and promoting the company's Safety Management System (SMS), fostering a proactive approach to safety. Identifying and mitigating potential risks through analysis tools and contributing to safety audits and corrective action processes.
  • **Mentorship & Leadership:** Guiding and mentoring First Officers and other flight crew members, ensuring all personnel understand their roles and responsibilities, and providing clear direction and constructive feedback to support professional development.
  • **Post-flight Duties:** Completing all necessary post-flight documentation accurately and promptly, including trip reports, logbook entries, and notes regarding maintenance or operational observations. Reporting any safety concerns or equipment discrepancies to the maintenance team.
  • **Regulatory Compliance:** Ensuring all flight operations strictly comply with FAA regulations, maintaining currency with required training, medical certifications, and company policies. Maintaining up-to-date flight crew records.

Qualifications:

Candidates are evaluated based on a combination of required and preferred qualifications:

  • **Flight Experience:**
    • Minimum 5,000 total flight hours.
    • Minimum 2,500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
    • Minimum 2,500 hours multi-engine land, with a minimum of 1,500 hours as multi-engine PIC.
    • Minimum 2,000 hours in turbine aircraft.
    • Minimum 500 hours instrument time.
  • **Certifications:**
    • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine land rating is required.
    • Current First-Class Medical Certificate is required.
    • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit is preferred.
  • **Skills:**
    • Demonstrated strong knowledge of FAA regulations, sophisticated flight planning techniques, and safety management systems.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills, particularly under pressure.
    • Proficiency in utilizing flight planning and aviation management software.
  • **Preferred Experience:**
    • Previous experience operating under Part 91 or Part 135 regulations is highly desirable.
