Position Summary:
The Pilot-in-Command reports directly to the Chief Pilot and is responsible for the safe operation of aircraft under FAR Part 91/135 regulations. This role requires adherence to all company policies and procedures while maintaining ultimate authority for all flight decisions. The Pilot-in-Command delegates tasks but retains full responsibility for their safe and efficient completion. To qualify, candidates must hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate category and class ratings and meet the specified experience requirements. Relocation to the Birmingham, AL area is required for this position, unless the candidate resides within a 90-minute radius.
Qualifications:
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
- Gulfstream G650 aircraft type rating (preferred)
- Current First Class Medical Certificate
- Minimum 3500 hours total flight time
- Minimum 1500 hours Pilot-in-Command time in turbine aircraft
- Exceptional Crew Resource Management (CRM) skills
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. and ability to travel internationally
- Enrollment in an FAA/DOT Drug and Alcohol Program
- Successful completion of a TSA Criminal History check
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Pilot-in-Command holds ultimate authority for all flight operations, including:
- Final decision-making regarding aircraft operation.
- Authority to delay, cancel, or discontinue a flight based on assessed conditions.
- Authority to alter planned flight paths as needed for safety.
- Adherence to company operating policies and procedures to mitigate risks, including controlled flight into terrain (CFIT).
- Comprehensive flight planning, considering weather, routing, airport conditions, air traffic, airway facilities, and aircraft performance.
- Ensuring flight completion as planned, making necessary adjustments for en-route conditions.
- Safe and prudent flight conduct according to regulations and company policies. This includes reviewing and reporting maintenance status, conducting thorough preflight inspections, verifying weather conditions and facilities, and ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations.
- Maintaining aircraft weight and balance within operational limits.
- Prioritizing the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft.
- Accurate completion of all flight documentation.
- Adhering to all instructions from the Certificate Holder and maintaining compliance with operations specifications, regulations, and company policies.
- Maintaining a professional demeanor at all times and fostering open communication within the flight crew.
- Reporting all flight interruptions to the company prior to the next departure.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot.
