FlySafair is seeking a skilled First Officer to join their team in Johannesburg. This permanent, market-related position involves ensuring flight safety, operating aircraft, and maintaining compliance with aviation regulations. The First Officer plays a critical role in supporting the Captain and contributing to the efficient and safe conduct of all flights, particularly on Boeing aircraft.
About the Role
The First Officer is responsible for a range of duties focused on flight safety and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include monitoring aircraft systems and flight paths, performing pre- and post-flight checks, communicating with various stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to company policies and regulations. In the absence of the Captain, the First Officer will assume command. This role demands a thorough understanding of aviation laws and company procedures, contributing to a positive crew environment and upholding FlySafair's commitment to excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- SACAA Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) (Essential)
- SACAA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) (Preferred)
- Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential)
- Type-rated on Boeing aircraft (Advantageous)
- Experience on Commercial Jets over 20 Tons (Advantageous)
- Minimum of 1500 flight hours, including 500 Multi-Turbine hours, if not type-rated or Boeing type-rated
- Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) experience (Essential)
- No existing medical conditions
- Willingness to sign applicable training bond(s)
- No criminal record
- Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing
- Own transport and valid RSA Driver’s License
- SA Citizen with proof of identity
- Valid RSA Passport
- Willingness to work irregular hours on a roster
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of National Aviation regulations (SACAA, ICAO)
- Knowledge of ICAO Document 8186 (Essential)
- Knowledge of Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot Licensing content
