About the Role
FlySafair is seeking a First Officer to join their operations based in Johannesburg.
The First Officer will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and efficiency of flights,
assisting the Captain, and upholding company standards. This permanent, mid-level
position offers market-related remuneration.
Responsibilities

Ensure safety of flight in a timely manner.

Monitor the flight path and systems of the aircraft.

Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures.
-
Communicate with internal departments, external service providers, and passengers.

Navigate and operate the flight.
-
Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies and procedures.
-
Uphold the company's commitment to excellent customer service.
-
Submit accurate and complete legal administrative documentation.
-
Assume command in the event of Captain incapacitation.
-
Stay updated with applicable SACAA and international aviation laws, and company Operation Manuals.
-
Assist the Captain with operational and administrative duties.
-
Assist the Captain in upholding crew discipline, behaviour, and personal appearance standards.

Carry out duties in accordance with FlySafair Standard Operating Procedures.

Confirm the safe navigation of the aircraft and terrain clearance.
-
Volunteer advice, information, and assistance to the Captain for safe and efficient flight conduct.

Maintain a high personal standard of discipline, conduct, and appearance.
-
Support the Captain in developing and maintaining professional expertise and morale amongst the crew.

Ensure continuous compliance with the company's Operations Manual.

Be fully aware of planned flight routes, briefing sheets, and conditions at destination and alternate aerodromes.

Collaborate with the Captain to review flight documentation and make informed decisions regarding fuel, alternates, and restrictions.

Perform or monitor normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists.

Monitor all aspects of the flight, including instrument indications, and advise the Captain of deviations or hazardous situations.

Conduct R/T communications as required.

Ensure post-flight procedures are completed as per the OM and FCOM.

Submit relevant documentation and reports.
Requirements
-
Grade 12 or equivalent.
-
SACAA Commercial Pilot Licence (Essential).
-
Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential).
-
Minimum of 1500 hours total flight time, including 500 hours Multi-Turbine time (Essential).

Multi-Crew experience (Essential).
-
No existing medical conditions.
-
Willingness to sign applicable training bond/s.
-
No criminal record.
-
Willingness to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
-
Own transport and RSA Driver’s License.
-
SA Citizen with proof of identity.
-
Valid RSA Passport.
-
Willingness to work irregular hours on a roster.
-
Detailed knowledge and understanding of National Aviation regulations such as SACAA and ICAO.

Knowledge of Doc 8186 (Essential).

Knowledge of Commercial and Airline Transport Pilots licensing content.
Qualifications & Experience

SACAA ATPL (Preferred).
-
Type rated on Boeing (Advantageous).
-
Experience on Commercial Jets over 20 Tons (Advantageous).

Non-Type Rated or Boeing Type rated with the specified flight hour requirements.
