C-17 Pilot Flight Instructor
Job Summary
The C-17 Pilot Flight Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for C-17 pilots. This role demands a high level of aviation expertise, particularly in air drop and aerial refueling operations, and the ability to effectively mentor and assess student pilots. The instructor will utilize various training devices and platforms to ensure pilots achieve proficiency in all aspects of C-17 operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts advanced flight training for C-17 pilots, focusing on air drop, aerial refueling, and tactical operating procedures.
- Utilizes a range of training devices, including Weapon System Trainers (WST), C-17 aircraft simulators, Computer-Based Trainers (CBT), and other ground training equipment.
- Diagnoses and remediates student pilot performance issues, ensuring adherence to established standards.
- Maintains and continuously enhances subject matter expertise in C-17 operations, instructional techniques, and aviation tactics.
- Upholds exceptional instruction capability and overall expertise in all training delivery.
Qualifications
- A minimum of eight (8) years of cumulative flying experience is required.
- Of the total flight experience, a minimum of five (5) years must be as a C-17 pilot.
- Demonstrated experience or the ability to obtain an AMC/A3TK waiver for air drop and aerial refueling operations is essential.
- Possesses at least two (2) years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience specifically in air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics.
- Recent C-17 flight simulator pilot instructor experience is highly desired.
- CATS MECOC certification is considered a significant advantage.
