Position Summary: Flight Instructor
The Flight Instructor is a crucial role responsible for delivering exceptional, industry-leading ground and simulator flight instruction. The successful candidate ensures all training adheres strictly to applicable aviation regulations and the rigorous training principles established by FlightSafety International.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor will be entrusted with the following critical responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pilot ground and high-fidelity simulator training for a diverse client base, encompassing core, specialty, and enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare essential training materials that effectively support training delivery, ensuring alignment with client needs and adherence to the specified curriculum.
- Rigorously evaluate and objectively measure trainee progress, providing professional recommendations for qualification or suggesting necessary additional training.
- Maintain detailed and accurate training records for each client, thereby facilitating their successful achievement of required training objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training issues and promptly seek appropriate assistance or resolution before proceeding with execution.
- Maintain continuous Instructor qualifications and regulatory compliance in accordance with governing aviation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Certifications (Essential and Preferred)
Candidates must fulfill the following minimum criteria:
- Must be able and willing to participate fully in FlightSafety International’s federally mandated DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state.
- If an ATP is not held, the applicant must meet the requirements specified in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating is required.
- Preferred Experience: Prior flight instruction or operational experience under FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- Preferred Flight Time: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of aviation safety standards and established industry practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of common aviation regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA).
- Proven ability to effectively manage classes and deliver high-quality instruction.
- A foundational mastery of instructional facilitation skills.
- Strong, first-level customer service skills focused on client engagement and satisfaction.
- A demonstrable capacity to be coachable and accept constructive feedback for ongoing professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The duties of this position involve regular use of hands for detailed manipulation of controls (e.g., fingers, handling, feeling objects, tools); reaching with hands and arms; and communicating via talking or hearing. The Instructor may occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and taste or smell.
Crucially, the Instructor must maintain the physical range of motion necessary to:
- Reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque pedals with both feet.
- Reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the Instructor’s station.
- Enter and exit the simulator device safely via the provided ramp.
- Move efficiently between the Instructor station, projection screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom setting.
- Be capable of exiting a malfunctioned simulator device, potentially while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The role involves regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Instructors may occasionally work in high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, and may be exposed to wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, temperature extremes, electrical shock risks, radiation risks, and vibration.
