Position Summary
FlightSafety International is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Flight Instructor to deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This pivotal role ensures that all training adheres strictly to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's rigorous training principles, fostering the highest standards of pilot proficiency and safety. The Flight Instructor is instrumental in guiding aviation professionals through comprehensive training programs, utilizing cutting-edge simulation technology to prepare them for real-world operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training sessions for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Develop and prepare high-quality training materials that effectively support training delivery, aligning with client needs and applicable curriculum standards.
- Accurately evaluate and measure trainee progress, providing informed recommendations for qualification or additional instructional support.
- Maintain precise and thorough training records for each client, directly contributing to their success in achieving stated training objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training challenges and seek appropriate assistance to ensure effective learning outcomes.
- Uphold and maintain all required Instructor qualifications in strict accordance with regulatory mandates.
Qualifications
Education
While no specific educational degree is explicitly required, candidates are expected to demonstrate comprehensive aviation knowledge and instructional proficiency.
Experience
- Willingness and ability to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- For candidates without an ATP certificate, the ability to meet the requirements of:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot in Command (PIC) type rating.
- Preferred: Demonstrated experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

- Profound knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Exceptional ability to manage classroom dynamics and deliver effective instruction.
- Demonstrated first-level facilitation skills, engaging and guiding learners effectively.
- Proven first-level customer service skills, ensuring a positive and supportive training environment.
- Strong coachability, with an openness to receive and integrate feedback for continuous professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role of Flight Instructor necessitates certain physical capabilities to effectively perform duties within simulator and classroom environments. Candidates must be able to:
- Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally or aurally.
- Potentially stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and possess taste or smell capabilities.
- Execute a physical range of motion including reaching, exerting pressure, and manipulating rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet.
- Reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor’s chair.
- Safely enter and exit the simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Move efficiently between the instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom.
- Safely exit a malfunctioned simulator, even when the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
- Possess specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure may include high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
