Position Summary: Flight Instructor
The Flight Instructor plays a critical role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This position ensures adherence to stringent aviation regulations and upholds FlightSafety's rigorous training principles, contributing directly to the development of highly skilled aviation professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training across core, specialty, and enrichment courses.
- Developing and preparing high-quality training materials to support effective delivery aligned with curriculum requirements.
- Rigorously evaluating and measuring trainee progress, subsequently recommending individuals for qualification or proposing additional specialized training as needed.
- Maintaining meticulous and accurate training records for each client, thereby facilitating their successful achievement of training objectives.
- Proactively identifying potential client training issues and seeking appropriate assistance prior to the commencement of training execution.
- Ensuring continuous maintenance of all required instructor qualifications in strict adherence to relevant regulatory mandates.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Ability and willingness to participate in FlightSafety International's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program is mandatory.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- Candidates without an ATP certificate must satisfy the requirements stipulated in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, specifically without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating is required.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military aviation training environments.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

- Exceptional first-level customer service skills.
- A strong commitment to continuous professional development, including the ability to receive and apply constructive feedback.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The Flight Instructor role necessitates specific physical capabilities to effectively perform duties within both simulator and classroom settings. Regular requirements include using hands for fine manipulation, reaching with arms, and clear communication. The position may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Essential physical range of motion includes:
- Ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque pedals with both feet.
- Capability to reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor's chair.
- Unrestricted entry and exit from the simulator device via the designated ramp.
- Fluid movement between the instructor station, projection screen, and podium while conducting classroom instruction.
- Ability to safely exit a malfunctioned simulator, even when the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
Visual acuity requirements for this position encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure may include elevated or precarious locations, external weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures (cold/heat), and potential risks from electrical shock, radiation, or vibration.
