Flight Instructor
FlightSafety International, the world’s premier professional aviation training company, seeks a qualified Flight Instructor to deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. The successful candidate will instruct pilots in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety training principles.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials to meet client needs, adhering to the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, recommending qualification or additional training as necessary.
- Complete accurate training records specific to each client, supporting their success in achieving the desired objectives.
- Identify client training issues and seek assistance proactively.
- Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience:
- Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- An unrestricted ATP certificate, or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
- In the absence of an ATP, candidates must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is essential.
- Preferred qualifications include FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience.
- A preferred minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Thorough understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to manage classes and teach effectively.
- Possession of first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
- Receptiveness to coaching and feedback to facilitate ongoing professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The employee will be regularly required to use hands, reach with arms, and communicate effectively. Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and the ability to taste and smell.
Specific physical requirements include:
- Ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet.
- Ability to reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor’s chair.
- Ability to enter and exit the simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Ability to move between the instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom.
- Ability to exit from a malfunctioned simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The employee will frequently work near moving mechanical parts and may work in high, precarious places, exposed to weather conditions, and occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
