Purpose of Position:

The Flight Instructor plays a critical role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This instruction is conducted in strict adherence to applicable aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles, ensuring the highest standards of safety and proficiency.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training sessions for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive training materials tailored to support effective training delivery and meet specific client needs, aligning with the established curriculum.
  • Evaluate and accurately measure trainee progress throughout their instruction, providing informed recommendations regarding qualification or the need for additional training.
  • Maintain precise and complete training records for each client, documenting their journey and contributing to their success in achieving requested training objectives.
  • Proactively identify potential client training issues and seek appropriate assistance or guidance before proceeding with execution.
  • Ensure personal Instructor qualifications are continuously maintained in full accordance with all relevant regulatory requirements.

Minimum Experience:

  • Previous rotorcraft experience is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • Must be able and willing to participate fully in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
  • Candidates without an ATP must satisfy the requirements stipulated in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, specifically without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating is required.
  • Preferred experience includes involvement in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
  • Preferred candidates will possess a minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of common aviation regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage classroom environments effectively and deliver engaging instruction.
  • Competency in first-level facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in first-level customer service interactions.
  • Capability to be receptive to coaching and feedback, actively utilizing it for professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally or by hearing. The role may also require standing; walking; sitting; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and tasting or smelling.

The position requires the physical range of body motion necessary to perform specific tasks, including:

  • Reaching, exerting pressure, and manipulating rudder controls and/or anti-torque pedals with both feet.
  • Reaching and manipulating numerous controls located within the simulator device from the Instructor’s chair.
  • Safely entering and exiting the simulator device via the provided ramp.
  • Moving effectively between the Instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in a classroom setting.
  • Exiting a malfunctioned simulator device that may be in a severely pitched attitude.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must be capable of regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in proximity to moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The role may also involve occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
