Position Summary
The Flight Instructor is a pivotal role responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This position ensures all training adheres strictly to applicable aviation regulations and the established FlightSafety Training principles, contributing directly to the success and proficiency of aviation professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Developing and preparing high-quality training materials designed to support effective delivery and meet client needs, in strict adherence to the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluating and meticulously measuring trainee progress, subsequently recommending individuals for qualification or identifying the need for additional training.
- Maintaining precise and detailed training records for each client, thereby facilitating their achievement of specified training objectives.
- Proactively identifying potential client training issues and seeking appropriate assistance or guidance prior to the commencement or execution of training.
- Ensuring continuous maintenance of all required instructor qualifications in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Essential Rotorcraft Experience: This is a dedicated rotorcraft position; therefore, significant prior rotorcraft experience is mandatory.
- Drug & Alcohol Testing: Candidates must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's Department of Transportation (DOT) Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Pilot Certification: Possess an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- Alternative Certification (if no ATP): Must meet the requirements of 14 CFR Part 61.153 and 14 CFR Part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- Type Rating: Hold a minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating.
- Preferred Experience: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments is highly preferred.
- Preferred Flight Time: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The successful candidate will regularly be required to utilize hands for fingering, handling, or feeling objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally or audibly. The role may necessitate standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and engaging senses such as taste or smell.
Specific physical range of motion required includes:
- Ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque pedals with both feet.
- Capacity to reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor’s chair.
- Capability to safely enter and exit the simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Agility to move effectively between the instructor station, projection screen, and podium while instructing in a classroom setting.
- The ability to safely exit a malfunctioned simulator, even when the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The role requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally, the employee may work in elevated or precarious locations, or in various outside weather conditions. There is also occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
