Purpose of Position

The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This pivotal role ensures training adheres to stringent aviation regulations and FlightSafety’s established training principles, contributing directly to the success and qualification of aviation professionals.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Flight Instructor conducts pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses. Key responsibilities include developing and preparing training materials tailored to meet client needs and align with applicable curricula. The instructor evaluates and measures trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or suggesting additional training when necessary. Maintaining accurate and complete training records for each client is essential to support their achievement of desired objectives. The Flight Instructor also proactively identifies potential client training issues and seeks appropriate assistance before execution. Crucially, the instructor is required to maintain their personal instructor qualifications in accordance with all regulatory requirements.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position involves regular use of hands to manipulate controls and feel objects, as well as reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing. Occasional requirements include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, and smelling. Specific physical tasks necessary to perform the job duties include reaching, exerting pressure, and manipulating rudder/anti-torque controls with both feet; reaching and manipulating numerous controls within a simulator from the instructor’s chair; entering and exiting simulator devices via provided ramps; moving between instructor station, screen, and podium in a classroom; and exiting a malfunctioned simulator device that may be in a severely pitched attitude. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The role requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure may include high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold or heat; and risk of electrical shock, radiation, or vibration.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for the Flight Instructor position is $100,625.00 – $136,250.00. Compensation will be determined based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, skills, experience, and market demands.
