Flight Instructor

FlightSafety International, the world's leading aviation training company and provider of flight simulators, seeks a highly qualified Flight Instructor. The successful candidate will deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to all relevant aviation regulations and FlightSafety training principles. This individual will be responsible for training pilots from diverse backgrounds, representing 167 countries and independent territories.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive ground and simulator training for clients undertaking core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
  • Develop and prepare training materials that align with the applicable curriculum and effectively meet the specific needs of each client.
  • Evaluate and document trainee progress, recommending qualification or further training as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed training records for each client, supporting their success in achieving stated training objectives.
  • Proactively identify and address client training challenges, seeking assistance when required.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements to maintain Instructor qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Participation in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program is mandatory.
  • Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate, or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
  • Alternatively, if no ATP, the candidate must meet the requirements specified in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required.
  • Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of aviation safety standards and best practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of common aviation regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and teach classes.
  • Possess first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to be coached and receive feedback for continuous professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This role requires regular use of hands for manipulating controls and equipment, as well as the ability to reach, talk, and hear. The role involves periods of standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and sometimes crawling. The employee must also possess the physical dexterity to operate simulator controls, including rudder controls, anti-torque controls, and various other simulator components. Additionally, they must be able to move between instructor station, screen, and podium, and exit the simulator in case of a malfunction. The position requires clear close, distance, color, and peripheral vision with proper depth perception. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee will frequently work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to varying environmental conditions, including but not limited to: high precarious places, outside weather, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme heat/cold, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
