Flight Instructor Position at FlightSafety International
FlightSafety International, the world's premier professional aviation training company and supplier of flight simulators, visual systems, and displays to commercial, government, and military organizations, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Flight Instructor to join its team.
Purpose of the Position:
The Flight Instructor delivers exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the highest quality training experience for clients, contributing to their successful achievement of training objectives.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support training delivery, ensuring they meet client needs and align with the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, recommending qualification or further training as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate training records for each client, supporting their progress towards desired outcomes.
- Proactively identify client training issues and seek assistance before execution.
- Maintain Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- An unrestricted ATP certificate, or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- Alternatively, if not holding an ATP, must meet the requirements of:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred: FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience.
- Preferred: 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Education:
No specific educational requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Knowledge of common aviation regulations.
- Ability to effectively manage classes and teach.
- First-level facilitation skills.
- First-level customer service skills.
- Ability to be coachable and receive feedback for personal development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including:
- Reaching, exerting pressure, and manipulating controls with hands and feet.
- Entering and exiting the simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Moving between different locations within the training facility.
- Exiting a malfunctioning simulator while in a severely pitched attitude.
- Regular lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
The work environment may include exposure to:
- Moving mechanical parts.
- High, precarious places.
- Outside weather conditions.
- Wet or humid conditions.
- Fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Extreme cold or heat.
- Risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
