Executive Jet Management (EJM), a subsidiary of NetJets and a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Pilot in Command for a Citation XLS aircraft based in Wheeling, Illinois (KPWK). EJM, a pioneer in aircraft management and worldwide jet charter services since 1977, operates within the world's largest private aviation infrastructure, built on core principles of safety, service, and integrity.
This position is part of a dedicated three-pilot account supported by an on-site Maintenance Technician, primarily conducting Part 91 and Part 135 operations. This is not a commutable position and requires the successful candidate to reside within driving distance of KPWK airport.
The Pilot in Command holds the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the aircraft on every flight. This role demands strict adherence to all company policies and regulatory requirements while consistently delivering an exceptional service experience to clients.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the safe operation of flight by confirming crewing and trip assignments meet all company and regulatory requirements.
- Completes all necessary flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks for each assignment.
- Leads required briefings using the Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) methodology to effectively mitigate operational risks.
- Complies strictly with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinates seamlessly with company personnel. Acts as the designated Ground Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as defined by company policy.
- Performs comprehensive aircraft pre-flight inspections, including verifying the maintenance status, to ensure the aircraft is mission-capable. Records all aircraft discrepancies in accordance with company SOPs.
- Monitors and oversees all aircraft ground servicing activities, such as fueling, oil, and oxygen, ensuring they are accomplished according to SOPs.
- Conducts thorough passenger briefings in compliance with company policy and regulations. Delivers the highest standard of customer service and addresses any special passenger needs.
- Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) techniques for clear and timely communication with fellow crew members and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
- Delivers an exceptional service experience by providing quality service to owners and passengers, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience, and investigating and resolving service deviations.
- Collaborates effectively with crew members and EJM internal partners to ensure a consistent service experience, resolving conflicts and challenges professionally.
- Maintains proficiency and compliance by ensuring all regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience requirements are met.
- Complies with the company SMS program and reports any safety or non-compliance concerns through appropriate channels.
Certifications and Licenses:
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
- FAA First Class Medical Certificate
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 4-6 years of total aviation experience.
- Prior experience in corporate or business aviation is preferred.
- FAA Type rating in the applicable fleet (Citation XLS) is highly desirable.
Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
- Total flight time: 3500 hours
- Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command: 2000 hours
- Pilot in Command Multi Engine Land (PIC MEL): 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
