Flight Simulator Operator

Mentour Pilot, a leading aviation YouTube channel dedicated to sharing aviation stories with a focus on incidents and crashes, seeks a Flight Simulator Operator. This remote, freelance position offers the opportunity to contribute to a top YouTube channel by providing unique and detailed pilot perspectives. The Flight Simulator Operator will work within the Manufacturing, Production team.

The ideal candidate possesses a passion for aviation and demonstrable experience with flight simulation software. He or she will customize and optimize environments within the simulator, adjusting weather conditions, time of day, and terrain to accurately recreate desired atmospheres. He or she will also utilize in-game camera tools to capture dynamic angles, fly-bys, cockpit views, and wide shots, enhancing the cinematic quality of the content. The operator will re-enact specific flight scenarios in line with real-world physics and aviation protocols to ensure realism and accuracy. Collaboration with directors, storyboard artists, and editors is essential to ensure shots match the creative vision and final cut requirements. The Flight Simulator Operator will troubleshoot and refine simulations to ensure smoothness and accuracy during recording, especially in complex or technical scenes, and will maintain consistency across shots in terms of aircraft positioning, lighting, and other environmental elements.

Requirements include a passion for aviation and a strong desire to share knowledge. The successful candidate must have the ability to explain aviation topics in an engaging, enthusiastic, and easy-to-understand manner, along with advanced experience using flight simulation software such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, and potentially other simulators like Prepar3D or Aerofly FS. Experience in content creation and production, including familiarity with working from shot lists and executing detailed production plans, is necessary. A basic understanding of cinematography, camera angles, and scene composition is expected to ensure high-quality output from flight simulators. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with a production team.
