The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is seeking suitably qualified and experienced pilots to assist in fire detection activities within the Parks and Wildlife Service.

Appointments may be made from this process in locations throughout Western Australia within a 6-month period to positions that may be permanent or contract, including contract appointments with the possibility of subsequent permanency.

Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Pilot:

Participates in flying operations in fixed wing light aircraft for fire suppression, detection, and reporting.
Other flying duties as directed by the Chief Pilot.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following eight (8) criteria including where possible the desirable criterion. These should be addressed in a one-page covering letter.
Evidence of an Australian Commercial Pilots Licence (A).
Evidence of a current Class One medical.
Evidence of a Tailwheel undercarriage endorsement.
Minimum 10 hours Pilot-in-Command aviation experience of Tailwheel aircraft.
Evidence of a current Aeroplane Flight Review (where applicable) with a minimum of 6 months validity to run.
Evidence of a current Australian Security Identification card (ASIC).
Evidence of a current Dangerous Goods Awareness certificate.
Minimum 300 hours Pilot-in-Command (Highly Desirable)

Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
