Pilatus PC-12 Pilot COMPANY Dauntless Air is an aerial firefighting company headquartered in Appleton, MN. We are the largest US operator of a single engine amphibious firefighting aircraft called the Fire Boss. Our fleet consists of 20 firefighting aircraft which principally operate throughout the middle and western US, as well as Alaska. We have key maintenance facilities in South St Paul, MN, Coeur d’Alene, ID and Cleburne, TX. Since 2017, we have doubled the size of our fleet and have greatly expanded our served markets working under contract with state and federal agencies. ABOUT THE JOB In 2025, we leased a Pilatus PC-12 to support our fleet of Fire Boss aircraft. We are leasing the same aircraft in 2026. Consequently, we are seeking to contract with a professional pilot to crew the aircraft principally during the fire season, which typically runs from May to October. The plane will participate in our annual training exercises held early March at our facility in Cleburne, TX. From there, it will support our fleet starting in May as it transitions to Alaska until early August, then move about the Pacific Northwest and Western States. If wildfire fire conditions dictate, the aircraft could return to the Lower 48 states sooner than August. PC-12 PILOT DUTIES Act as primary pilot flying the Company’s leased PC-12 (est. flight time – 200hrs./yr.). If desired, working a rotation with another pilot will be considered.Be responsible for transport of the Company’s aircraft maintenance personnel and equipment to service the Company’s Fire Boss aircraft located at various tanker basesBe responsible for transport of Fire Boss pilots during their contracted duty cycles.Oversee all maintenance, database updates, regulatory compliance and record keeping for the PC-12Ensure the aircraft is operated in accordance with FAR Part 91Maintain flight IFR, VFR and night proficiency at all times QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSES Holds a current Certificate of Completion for initial or recurrent training in aPC-12Holds a Commercial or Private Pilot Certificate with single engine, instrument ratingsHolds a valid First or Second Class medical certificateHas total Flight Time of 1,500 hrs. or more with 300 hrs. of PC-12 timeIs current with instrument proficiency and night flight requirementsMust be willing to travel extensively (March – September) COMPENSATION Employment Status – Independent ContractorContracting Fee – $850 to $1,000/day depending on experienceLife Insurance & Accidental Disability – YesWorker Compensation Coverage – YesOut of Town Lodging and Food – Company paidWhile travelling a vehicle will be provided at the Company’s expense SCHEDULE The aircraft will be principally based at the Company’s maintenance facility in Coeur d'Alene, ID. APPLICATION Interested parties should send their resume and qualifications to (see our website for contact details) DAUNTLESS FIRE BOSS PILOTS | REQUIREMENTS 1,500 hours total in all aircraft (NOTE: The majority of Dauntless Air pilots who meet all qualification requirements were hired with an excess of 4,000 hours total time)1,200 hours in airplanes200 hours in airplane single engine land 100 hours in airplane single engine sea (ASES) (NOTE: If you lack the 100 hours of ASES, but have your sea plane rating (ASES) and meet all other requirements, you may still apply)25 hours in the same make and model to be flown (NOTE: If hired, you will receive these hours as part of the Dauntless Air training program)100 hours in turboprop airplanes, as applicable200 hours of low-level* flight in airplanes; this must include at least 100 hours of legitimate FAA Part 137 operations, commonly referred to as “crop dusting” or “aerial application” hours, which encompasses the dispensing of fire retardant, water on fires or agricultural materials/chemicals (i.e., liquid or dry products)200 hours in mountainous terrain** or 100 hours after successfully graduating from a recognized mountain flying school (click here for recognized schools)100 hours in airplanes in the last 12 months10 hours in airplanes in the preceding 60 daysInstrument ratingCommercial certificate* Low-level flight is defined as pre-planned mission-oriented flight conducted below 500 feet above ground level (AGL) in support of Federal, State or Private resources such as wildlife surveys, telemetry work, ACETA, wildland firefighting, pipeline patrol, 14 CFR 137 dispensing, nap-of-the earth (NOE) flight operations below 500 feet AGL, etc. Ineligible flight time includes random low-level flight seeing or game spotting, and any time spent landing and taking off or pattern work.** Mountainous terrain experience is defined as operating airplanes in mountainous terrain as identified in 14 CFR 95 Subpart B, Designated Mountainous Area. Operating includes maneuvering near terrain, crossing ridgelines and evaluating conditions such as wind, temperature and density altitude.
