About the Role
Cummins Inc. is seeking a skilled and dedicated First Officer to join its esteemed corporate aviation team based in Columbus, IN. This role is integral to ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the company's flight department. The First Officer will work collaboratively with the Captain and flight operations personnel to uphold the highest standards of aviation excellence.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
- Support Safe and Efficient Flight Operations: Execute assigned duties under the direction of the Captain, strictly adhering to all aviation regulations to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of every flight.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Maintain vigilant adherence to all applicable federal, state, local, and international aviation regulations, safeguarding the company against legal risks and upholding industry standards.
- Make Critical Weather-Based Decisions: Analyze weather conditions and contribute to informed decision-making regarding flight scheduling, route adjustments, or necessary delays/cancellations to prioritize passenger safety and operational efficiency.
- Optimize Flight Planning and Performance: Participate in the review of flight plans, calculation of aircraft weight and balance, and the application of performance charts to ensure optimal and safe aircraft operation.
- Enhance Passenger Experience: Contribute to a positive and comfortable passenger experience through meticulous aircraft preparation and the provision of exceptional customer service, reinforcing Cummins' commitment to quality.
- Maintain Aircraft Readiness: Ensure the aircraft is consistently clean, adequately stocked, and fully prepared for flight, supporting both safety protocols and passenger satisfaction.
- Contribute to Departmental Excellence: Actively participate in departmental initiatives, including documentation, safety committees, and hiring processes, fostering a strong, collaborative, and safety-centric flight department.
- Support Company-Wide Initiatives: Engage in broader team and company-wide projects, demonstrating leadership potential and a commitment to continuous improvement beyond core flight operations responsibilities.

- Aviation Regulations and Policies: Thorough knowledge of and strict compliance with policies and regulations set forth by the FAA and relevant State Authorities, including Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Parts 91 and 125, Corporate Aviation Manuals, and General Operations Manuals.
- Flight Path Management: Accurately and smoothly controls the aircraft using both manual and automated flight systems according to the operational context.

Education, Licenses, and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid U.S. Passport
- Valid first-class medical certificate
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid FAA Commercial Pilot License with an instrument rating or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
- Minimum of 1,000 hours of total flight time
- Minimum of 500 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) turbine time
- Successful completion of an FAA instrument proficiency check within the previous 12 months
- Preferred: 50 hours of multi-engine, turbine time within the past six months
Experience
Preferred: Intermediate level of relevant work experience in a corporate aviation setting.
Additional Requirements
- Must successfully pass a FAA Pilot Records Database (PRIA) background check.
- Must successfully pass a National Driver Register check.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Candidate must be based in Columbus, IN.

Salary Range: $114,750 - $135,000 annually
