Overview

The College of DuPage, through its esteemed Homeland Security Training Institute (HSTI), invites applications for a dedicated and experienced Adjunct Faculty member to serve as a UAV Part 107 Class Instructor. Opportunities may exist to teach a flexible schedule that may include assignments during days, evenings, and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

The Adjunct Faculty, UAV Part 107 Class Instructor, will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing comprehensive course plans for UAV Part 107 certified programs.
  • Delivering engaging and effective instruction in various modes, including face-to-face, online, hybrid, classroom, lab, or clinical settings.
  • Facilitating and supporting student success through clear guidance and mentorship.
  • Conducting timely and fair student evaluations to assess learning outcomes.
  • Ensuring accurate and prompt submission of all required instructional paperwork and documentation.
  • Adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of a multicultural student body.

Required Qualifications

  • Possession of a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of teaching experience, specifically within the Private Pilot Ground Instructor field and/or UAV Part 107 instruction.
  • Proficiency in basic personal computer operations.
  • Access to reliable personal technology, including a home computer with the necessary capabilities for effective online teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An FAA Flight Instructor or Ground Instructor certificate is strongly preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree is highly desirable; however, candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant education and extensive experience in the UAV or aviation field will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft PowerPoint presentation software.
  • Proven ability in curriculum development.
  • Prior experience with remote teaching technologies and delivering instruction in online or virtual formats.

Compensation and Application

This position offers a flexible teaching schedule, with potential assignments available during days, evenings, and weekends to accommodate various student and instructor needs. Compensation is provided through stipends for assigned courses.
