Lead Captain - Global 7500
Clay Lacy Aviation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Captain to join its team in Camarillo, CA. This is a full-time, Part 91 position, operating a Global 7500 with approximately 350 hours annually. The Lead Captain acts as a flight crewmember and is responsible for ensuring effective communication between the account and Clay Lacy Aviation, including the Account Manager (ACM), Director of Maintenance (DOM), Director of Training, Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP), and Trip Support Specialists. The Lead Captain ensures crew compliance with applicable regulations, directives, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assists in coordinating training events, reviews expense reports and invoices, and assists in managing crew member schedules. This individual facilitates positive working relationships and perpetuates Clay Lacy Aviation's company culture and ideals within the flight department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC) as designated.
- Ensures compliance with flight and maintenance schedules and other directives governing the aircraft's operation.
- Ensures crew compliance with flight & duty times limitations as outlined in the General Operations Manual (GOM) if Part 135, or reasonably adheres to Part 135 standards as able if Part 91.
- Ensures the accomplishment of pre-flight/post-flight duties & inspections in accordance with the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM).
- Coordinates with the DOM & ACM to ensure the aircraft is cleaned as necessary (or scheduled).
- Manages aircraft inventory to meet owner or user requirements (may be assigned to Cabin Attendant).
- Monitors crew members’ performance and communicates to the Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP) relative to annual performance reviews.
- Completes & approves crew expense reports in accordance with Clay Lacy Aviation policy.
- Reviews monthly billing summaries and reports discrepancies to accounting and ACM.
- Coordinates/manages crewmember’s days off and vacation requests, relaying to ACP for inclusion on the schedule. Communicates with ACM for owner approval if necessary.
- Liaisons with ACP and Director of Training.
- Conducts monthly review of currency and upcoming training/evaluation requirements.
- Conducts annual aircraft black book audits (works with Flight Operations and ACP).
- Ensures compliance with fleet requirements (SOPs, required paperwork, etc.).
- Maintains familiarity with installed equipment on the aircraft and adheres to all required regulatory aircraft operational authorizations and mandates.
Maintenance Related Responsibilities:
- Maintains awareness of scheduled/unscheduled maintenance events.
- Assists Clay Lacy Aviation in the resolution and communication of mechanical Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events when required.
- Reviews monthly work orders invoices.
- Coordinates/communicates any maintenance-related items and squawks with the Maintenance Controller (or DOM if assigned) to ensure effective communication regarding all maintenance scheduling (to include scheduling specialist & ACM).
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensures all trip-related requests or changes from aircraft owner (or charter client) are communicated to the Charter Department and Chief Pilot’s office.
- Assists in gathering any required operationally related data for special projects or reporting as requested.
- Mediates and facilitates positive working relationships within the Flight Department.
- Cultivates and maintains positive working relationships with all external stakeholders and Clay Lacy Aviation personnel.
- Ensures Clay Lacy Aviation's company culture is perpetuated among members of the Flight Department.
- Provides constructive feedback to increase efficiency in processes and procedures within Clay Lacy Aviation through the ACM or via the Safety Management System if required.
- Works with the Clay Lacy Aviation ACM in the management of Aircraft Owners' overall experience.
- Performs other duties as required in support of Clay Lacy Aviation and the aircraft owner, including updating the Scheduling Specialist regarding aircraft schedule changes and other matters that may affect the scheduling of aircraft, crews, or contract pilots/contract cabin attendants.
- Coordinates with ACM, DOM, Scheduling Specialist, and managed billing to have regular flight department meetings to discuss & manage activities, mx events, budget, identify problems, answer questions, pass information gathered from the owner, and create future improvement projects and goals.
- Participates in the interview process and selection of all flight department personnel in conjunction with the ACP/Chief Pilots.
- Communicates with ACM for input and/or approval for all operational, personnel, and administrative issues.
- Makes recommendations for additional training for flight department members to ACM & ACP (conferences, safety training, industry events, etc.).

Required Education and Experience:
Clay Lacy Aviation Lead Captains should possess the minimum experience required to safely operate the assigned aircraft in compliance with the company's Operational Specifications, General Operations Manual, and Flight Operations Manual while meeting account management requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Applicable FAA Part 91 and/or FAA Part 135 requirements for the assigned aircraft type.
- Must remain current with flight requirements – ATP certificate required.
- First Class Medical Required.
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $380,000.00 – $420,000.00 annually, with fully paid medical/healthcare premiums.
