Experimental Flight Test Pilot - Senior
Cirrus Aircraft is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Experimental Flight Test Pilot to join their team in Duluth, Minnesota. This is a full-time, on-site position offering the opportunity to contribute to the development and certification of cutting-edge Part 23 airplanes.
About the Role:
The Experimental Flight Test Pilot will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and airworthiness of new aircraft designs. This individual will be responsible for:
- Conducting flight tests safely and effectively, adhering to all regulations and procedures.
- Collaborating with flight test engineers and design engineers to develop comprehensive test plans and procedures.
- Actively participating in safety reviews to mitigate potential risks and ensure a safe testing environment.
- Providing valuable pilot-oriented input during design meetings to optimize aircraft design from a pilot's perspective.
- Working closely with FAA test pilots during the crucial certification test phase.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of technical expertise, flight experience, and interpersonal skills. Key qualifications include:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a flight test pilot, with a proven track record on programs pursuing FAA/TCCA/EASA Certification.
- Fluent English language proficiency, both written and spoken.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- A demonstrated ability to meet program objectives, adhering to schedules and deadlines.
- A strong work ethic and a willingness to go the extra mile to achieve project goals.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- The ability to provide clear and well-founded opinions and recommendations to management based on test results and experience.
- Possession of the necessary pilot licenses and medical certifications, including a multi-engine jet type rating.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
- Graduation from a recognized Test Pilot School or equivalent experience.
- Experience with FAA DER/UM and/or ODA processes.
- A proven ability to collaborate effectively within the engineering organization, providing early input to influence aircraft design and mitigate potential issues.
