Key Responsibilities of the Captain
The Captain is responsible for operating the Citation Ultra aircraft, ensuring that all flights originating from the Toronto base are conducted with the highest standards of safety and compliance. The role extends beyond the cockpit, requiring active participation in daily operational activities, including availability during designated reserve days. The Captain must maintain seamless communication with Chartright’s Flight Coordination Centre and Sales teams to guarantee that all operational and service requirements are met.
This role demands a focus on service excellence, requiring the Captain to provide direct, exceptional client service that significantly contributes to the client experience. Furthermore, the Captain is expected to foster an environment of professional collaboration, encouraging team members to share insights, improvements, and solutions. Additional duties include performing monthly training courses and other operational tasks as assigned.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Candidates applying for the Citation Ultra Captain position must meet stringent Transport Canada requirements and possess the following prerequisite qualifications and experience:
- Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- Group 1 Multi-Engine Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) rating.
- Valid Transport Canada Medical Certificate.
- Canadian Radio Telephone License.
- A minimum of 1500 hours total flight time.
- A minimum of 500 multi-engine Pilot-In-Command (PIC) hours. Experience operating similar aircraft types is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience utilizing flight management systems (FMS) and glass cockpits.
- Expert knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and established Safety Management System (SMS) safety practices.
- Profound understanding of aviation weather, airport performance capabilities, detailed flight plan calculations, fuel planning, and weight and balance requirements.
While not mandatory, a University degree or College diploma in Aviation is preferred. The successful candidate must be physically capable of lifting up to 60 lbs.
