Captain (Pilot in Command)

The company seeks a highly proficient and professional Captain to assume the critical role of Pilot in Command (PIC) for Part 135 air carrier operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Pilot, the Captain is responsible for upholding the highest safety standards and maintaining a professional and businesslike environment conducive to the safe and efficient execution of all flight assignments.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The Captain operates with final authority and responsibility for the aircraft, cargo, crewmembers (when applicable), and passengers during all phases of flight. Primary responsibilities include:
Leadership and Operational Vigilance
- Serves as the Pilot in Command (PIC), demonstrating the proper professional attitude and exercising command authority over the entire operation.
- Conducts all flight operations in a safe and highly professional manner, maintaining exceptional vigilance and avoiding distractions during all phases of flight.
- Supervises the Second in Command (SIC), when assigned, ensuring thorough flight preparation and planning procedures are executed.
- Ensures the flight crew is adequately rested, properly attired, and prepared for duty.
Flight Planning and Execution
- Prepares or supervises the preparation, filing, and closing of flight plans, meticulously considering factors such as terrain, altitude, range, weather conditions (including NOTAMs), weight and balance, fuel requirements, airport facilities, and navigational aids.
- Obtains comprehensive briefings regarding relevant flight information, special procedures, and instructions pertinent to the assignment.
- Supervises the loading and distribution of cargo, baggage, and passengers, accurately determining that weight and balance limitations are strictly observed.
- Ensures all cargo is properly secured prior to departure.
- Operates the aircraft at safe and favorable altitudes, prioritizing passenger comfort, and accounting for conditions such as turbulence, oxygen requirements, medical needs.
Compliance and Maintenance Administration
- Ensures rigorous compliance with all applicable FAA Regulations (specifically FAR 135.265), Operations Specifications, company manuals, flight manuals, and associated instructions.
- Conducts or supervises preflight inspections of the aircraft, checking for mechanical and structural integrity. This includes maintaining the cleanliness of the aircraft exterior and windows.
- Verifies that all required airworthiness inspections are current and that the aircraft is fully equipped for the assigned mission (e.g., charts, fuel, oil, emergency equipment).
- Ensures the timely preparation of flight logs and the accurate reporting of mechanical irregularities. The Captain also ensures maintenance personnel record maintenance performed enroute.
- Provides assistance to company personnel in completing the job, which may include performing or supervising ground duties such as loading, unloading, and refueling the aircraft (following required company training).
Minimum Qualifications and Flight Hour Requirements
Candidates must meet the following baseline qualifications and flight time requirements:
Required Licenses and Certifications
- FAA Commercial Multi-Engine License with Instrument Rating.
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Multi-Engine Land Certificate is required (or immediately obtainable based on flight hours).
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Valid Passport is mandatory.
- Must possess high knowledge of the Cessna 402 operation within a Part 135 environment.
