Role Overview
The Training System Specialist (Pilot) role is integral to CAE's unwavering commitment to training excellence within its Civil Aviation and Defence & Security operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the readiness of future Royal Canadian Air Force technicians and collaborate with a team of esteemed technical experts. The specialist will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing training programs, ensuring operational seamlessness, and upholding service excellence, thereby empowering pilots, aircrew, and mission-critical teams to achieve peak performance.
Reporting to the CAE CFO Manager Training Support Group, and working closely with fellow Training System Specialists and DND end-users, the incumbent will be responsible for the continuous updating and maintenance of courseware, alongside the critical testing and validation of simulator software configurations. Key Responsibilities
- Provides training task and teaching point linkages to device and courseware functional technical requirements.
- Utilizes aircraft documentation to deliver engineering support to software developers during project integration activities.
- Develops comprehensive courseware support deliverables, including training plans, CGF mission scenarios, and lesson plan scripts.
- Serves as the day-to-day liaison with 426 Squadron Tactical Flight Instructors to ensure the effective achievement and maintenance of the training solution.
- Plans, conducts, and monitors the testing and inspection of Device Based Lessons (DBLs) and Computer Based Training (CBT) lessons.
- Tests a range of Synthetic Training Devices, from Full Flight Simulators to Flight Training Devices and Computer Aided Training devices, to verify adherence to design, customer training, and regulatory requirements.
- Supports customer acceptance, device qualification, and testing activities.
- Manages simulator deficiencies, ensuring early identification of defects during validation and acceptance activities.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Attributes:
- Previous experience as a trained CC130J Pilot is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 600 hours of flying experience as an Aircraft Commander pilot in CC130J/E/H aircraft, with verifiable proof of hours in a CF1281 Logbook.
- Consideration will be given to CC130E/C130H Pilots based on their relevant experience levels.
- Experience with multi-engine and glass cockpit aircraft may also be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional attention to detail coupled with superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with quality standards, training plans, and training media essential for meeting established Training Standards.
- Eligibility to work in Canada, either as a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or with a valid Work Permit.
- Ability to obtain and maintain both Controlled Goods Clearance and a Government of Canada security clearance.
