C-130/L-382 Flight Instructor

Role Overview

The C-130/L-382 Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive instruction on C-130/L-382 aircraft systems, flight operations, and crew resource management. This pivotal role ensures the highest standards of aviation training are met, prioritizing safety and operational excellence. The instructor will contribute to curriculum development and conduct detailed performance evaluations, fostering a secure and effective learning environment for both domestic and international aviation professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert flight and performance manual instruction for C-130/L-382 aircraft.
  • Instruct on flight rules, crew resource management (CRM), and night vision systems.
  • Maintain paramount safety as the primary focus of all training activities.
  • Develop and refine curriculum, syllabi, lesson plans, and courseware.
  • Generate thorough post-training evaluation reports.
  • Direct, coordinate, and lead all aircrew activities during simulator training sessions.
  • Operate the Instructor Operator Station (IOS) during simulator training sessions.
  • Continuously update knowledge through ongoing training and self-study.
  • Establish credibility and effectively engage customer attendees.
  • Exhibit outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Clearly articulate procedures, physical processes, and complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Apply essential mathematical skills for aviation-related mission planning, including flight plans and fuel consumption calculations.
  • Utilize intellectual and interpersonal skills to evaluate and, when necessary, redirect student learning.
  • Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Work a flexible schedule to meet training demands.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of pilot experience, with at least three years as a C-130/L-382 Aircraft Pilot Instructor.
  • Minimum of 2500 flight hours as a C-130/L-382 Pilot.
  • A minimum of a 4-year college degree or recognized equivalent.
  • Prior experience in curriculum development is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility and maintain the attention of customer attendees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly explain procedures, physical processes, and concepts to domestic and international customers.
  • Proficiency in mathematical skills necessary for aviation-related flight plans and fuel consumption calculations.
  • Sufficient intellectual and personal skills to evaluate and redirect attendees as needed.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule.

Preferred Skills

  • Night Vision Goggle (NVG) experience.
  • Airdrop experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Candidates must provide U.S. military or civil airline records of prior flight and/or simulator time.

Security Responsibilities

Work Environment

This position operates within office, classroom, and simulator environments. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands outlined are representative of those an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

  • Ability to undertake foreign travel for extended assignments.
  • Capacity to stand and conduct academic instruction in classrooms, simulators, or other platforms for up to eight hours daily.
  • Ability to hear and tolerate simulator vibration and acoustic environments.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs to enter and exit simulators.
  • Capacity to sit in a standard instructional aircraft chair, lift hands overhead, and reach controls as necessary.
