Aviation Instructor - Flight & Simulator Training
Overview
The Aviation Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive aviation training. This position involves conducting instruction across various platforms, including classroom settings, instrument ground trainers, flight simulators (SIM), and actual flight training activities. The core responsibility is to ensure trainees acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to meet established standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct ground and flight simulator training for trainees within the organization's training programs.
- Evaluate trainee progress and proficiency, ensuring adherence to established performance standards.
- Maintain a high level of instructional competency and professional conduct at all times.
- Demonstrate and apply a strong base of aviation knowledge in a dynamic learning environment.
- Effectively assess customer training requirements and provide proficient coaching and instruction.
- Employ creative and innovative teaching methodologies to enhance the learning experience.
- Achieve and maintain applicable ratings and qualifications in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Provide instruction that optimizes learning and addresses individual customer needs through personalized approaches.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Be responsive to customer needs, demonstrating effective decision-making within the scope of authority and in alignment with organizational mission and strategy.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Current CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) certificate with multi-engine instrument ratings is a prerequisite for full-time employment.
- Minimum of 1000 hours of dual flight instruction given is required.
- CFI/II Instruction experience is essential.
- FAA ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) certification is highly preferred.
- FAA medical certification is highly preferred.
- Experience in glass cockpit aircraft within an airline environment is preferred.
Work Schedule and Environment
The organization provides training seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Instructor schedules will be determined by customer training needs. While typical work day/week expectations apply, flexibility is required, and instructors may be assigned duties at any time the facility is operational. Compensatory time-off will be provided in accordance with the personnel handbook.
