Job Summary
The C-130/L-382 Avionics Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering expert instruction on legacy and advanced avionics systems for C-130/L-382 aircraft. Training will be conducted in simulator, classroom, and practical environments, incorporating Crew Resource Management and Night Vision Imaging Systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide instruction on C-130/L-382 flight rules, navigation, and performance manual subjects.
- Deliver training on Crew Resource Management and Night Vision Systems.
- Ensure all instruction prioritizes safety as the paramount concern.
- Develop and update curriculum, syllabi, lesson plans, and courseware.
- Generate comprehensive post-training evaluation reports.
- Direct, coordinate, and lead all aircrew activities during simulator training sessions.
- Operate the Instructor Operator Station (IOS) during fixed training device/simulator sessions.
- Maintain current knowledge through ongoing training courses and self-study.
- Command credibility and maintain the attention of customer attendees.
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Clearly articulate procedures, physical processes, and concepts to domestic and international customers.
- Apply essential math skills for aviation-related mission planning and execution, including flight plans and fuel consumption calculations.
- Demonstrate the intellectual and interpersonal skills necessary to evaluate and redirect students as needed.
- Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Adhere to a flexible work schedule.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A minimum of seven years of experience as a navigator and three years of experience as a C-130 Aircraft Navigator Instructor.
- A minimum of 2000 hours of flight time as a C-130 Navigator.
- Previous experience in curriculum development is required.
- Demonstrated ability to command credibility and maintain the attention of customer attendees.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to clearly express procedures, physical processes, and concepts to both domestic and international customers.
- Proficiency in math skills necessary for aviation-related flight plan and fuel consumption calculations.
- Sufficient intellectual and personal skills to evaluate and, where necessary, redirect attendees.
- Detail-oriented approach to work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.

- Night Vision Goggle (NVG) experience
- Airdrop experience
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish)
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Candidates must be able to provide US military or civil airline records of prior flight and/or simulator time.
Security Responsibilities
Employees must comply with all company security and data protection policies. They are personally responsible for the proper marking and handling of all information and materials. Divulgence of information to unauthorized personnel or externally requires management approval. Access to and storage of government and proprietary information will be conducted on company-provided resources.
Work Environment
This position operates within office, classroom, and simulator environments. Standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines, is routinely used.
Physical Demands
The physical demands outlined are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job. This includes the ability to:
- Undertake foreign travel for extended assignments.
- Stand and conduct academic instruction in classrooms, simulators, or other platforms for up to eight hours daily.
- Hear and tolerate simulation vibration and acoustic environments.
- Climb stairs to enter and exit simulators.
- Sit in standard instructional aircraft chairs, lift hands overhead, and reach controls as necessary.
