Role Summary: CH-47F Instructor Pilot

CAE is seeking a highly qualified and experienced CH-47F Instructor Pilot to deliver advanced flight instruction to student pilots, including both US Army and multinational contingents, at the Fort Rucker, Alabama training facility. The Instructor Pilot is responsible for conducting comprehensive training in strict accordance with the standards outlined in the Army Aircrew Training Manual.

This critical role requires prior Instructor Pilot experience at the company level or above. Training shifts are conducted both day and night, with scheduled operations commencing as early as 5:00 AM and concluding after midnight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Instructor Pilot provides expert instruction across all phases of training, ensuring students achieve proficiency in complex CH-47F operations. Essential duties include:

  • Delivering advanced flight instruction in complex tasks, advanced navigation, terrain flight techniques, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and instrument training.
  • Conducting instruction across various phases, which may include basic combat skills, instrument flight, and night vision goggle (NVG) operations.
  • Providing classroom academic instruction, simulator training, and in-flight performance evaluations.
  • Executing pre-mission planning, comprehensive mission briefings, rehearsals, and post-flight After Action Reviews (AARs).
  • Conducting end-of-stage check rides to evaluate student readiness.
  • Accurately documenting student performance in official flight training records.
  • Managing and participating in multi-ship flight operations.

Required Qualifications and Education

The successful candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Possess prior Instructor Pilot (IP) experience at the company level or above.
  • Must maintain a current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Second-Class Medical Certificate for the duration of the contract, or if a member of the National Guard or Reserves, an Army Class 2 Flight Duty Medical Exam (FDME).
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this position.
  • Must be eligible for a DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Professional Competencies

  • Language Skills: Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex aviation terminology, technical documents, and diagrams.
  • Mathematical Skills: Must be able to accurately calculate figures, amounts, and percentages, and interpret complex data presented in graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Demonstrates the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The capacity to interpret student requirements and attitudes through verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is essential.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The role requires work in an office environment, a manufacturing facility, and within flight training devices/aircraft. The incumbent must be prepared for the following demands:

  • Availability for overtime and irregular shifts, including working on and off-shifts as required.
  • The ability to walk and/or climb stairs and ladders into simulator or aircraft cockpits.
  • The capacity to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or underneath training devices.
  • Must be able to detect odors, hear noises, or other sounds indicative of problems or flaws in the surrounding environment.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Domestic travel may be required.
