CAE is seeking dedicated and experienced instructors to join its world-class team at 19 Wing Comox, Canada. This pivotal role focuses on training Canada’s next generation of Fixed-Wing Search & Rescue (FWSAR) aircrew. Operating within CAE’s Training Centre Operations, the successful candidate will contribute to the heart of aviation training excellence for both Civil Aviation and Defense & Security sectors.

Key Responsibilities

The FWSAR Aircrew Instructor will be responsible for a comprehensive range of training and operational duties, including but not limited to:

  • Working independently to respond effectively to a broad scope of customer requirements and achieve team goals.
  • Delivering engaging and effective academic presentations to trainees.
  • Conducting specialized Servicing and Elementary Work training.
  • Executing TACCO and Sensor Operator training programs, which encompass both academic/theory instruction and immersive synthetic environments such as advanced flight simulators and other ground-based training devices.
  • Actively contributing to the development and enhancement of courseware and teaching aids.
  • Ensuring all training programs consistently align with specified training objectives and teaching points as outlined in the applicable Training Plan and Quality Standard.
  • Assessing, thoroughly documenting, and promptly reporting student progress, identifying any issues or deficiencies pertinent to course delivery.
  • Providing expert oral and written ACSO (Air Combat Systems Officer) and AESOP (Airborne Electronic Sensor Operator) Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support to the program and Training Centre team as required.
  • Compiling comprehensive student training progress and course debrief reports.
  • Undertaking occasional travel in support of CAE projects, which may include overtime as required.

Qualifications

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Eligibility to work in Canada, demonstrated by Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a valid Work Permit.
  • The proven ability to obtain and maintain both a Controlled Goods Clearance and a Government of Canada Level II security clearance.
  • Significant experience as a military ACSO, AESOP, or Air Navigator.
  • Documented experience as a Search & Rescue (SAR) crewmember, regardless of aircraft type.
  • Prior experience as an Ab-Initio or Operational Training Unit (OTU) Instructor.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, essential for effective instruction and teamwork.
  • Physical capability to work comfortably and safely in confined spaces, particularly within flight training devices and simulators.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Formal training in instructional delivery methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Quality Standards, Training Plans, and various training media utilized to ensure Teaching Points are met according to Training Standards.
  • Experience in authoring and amending multi-media instructional courseware.
  • Verbal French language skills suitable for conducting instruction in French.
  • Direct experience with the Airbus C295 aircraft.

Salary Range:

$100,400 CAD – $122,800 CAD
