The Role

CAE is seeking a skilled and experienced Aviation Instructor specializing in T-44A/C aircraft systems and operational procedures. The instructor provides high-quality aviation training in classroom and simulator environments and practical settings. This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) when required and may contribute to additional services such as courseware review and various administrative and collateral duties, including publications, safety, quality audits, scheduling, and other assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

The Aviation Instructor's primary responsibilities include:

  • Delivering Pilot procedures instruction within classroom and flight simulator environments.
  • Assisting in the development and updating of training devices.
  • Contributing as a Subject Matter Expert in curriculum development for new courses and reviewing/modifying existing lessons.
  • Providing recommendations to enhance training policies and procedures.
  • Fostering a positive attitude towards continuous learning and the adoption of new technologies and tasks.
  • Diagnosing and addressing student performance challenges.
  • Assisting with project and development work as assigned.
  • Performing essential administrative duties such, maintaining student records, monitoring progress, counseling students, and ensuring quality assurance, safety, and security protocols are met.
  • Ensuring student safety while onboard the simulator and being physically able to access the simulator.
  • Maintaining operational proficiency in Aircrew Training Devices.
  • Leveraging prior aircraft operating experience to provide credible instruction and effectively engage attendees.
  • Acquiring and maintaining proficiency across all instructional areas to successfully pass standardization checks and classroom evaluations.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Be a prior military pilot or hold a FAA flight instructor certificate with Airplane Multi-Engine and Instrument-Airplane ratings.
  • Accumulate a minimum of 1,000 hours of flight time.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of DoD rules and regulations governing aircraft operations and the use of DoD forms/documents for aircraft instrument flight operations.
  • Be a graduate of a military instruction course or equivalent (meeting Navy’s Instructor Training Course, A-012-0077 standard), as approved by the Government.
  • Possess working knowledge of each phase of NATRACOM flight training and courseware curricula utilized in the classroom.
  • Have working knowledge of administrator functions associated with courseware presentation programs.
  • Be capable of managing student data within the system, including induction, purging, generating performance reports, and responding to queries regarding student progress.
  • Exhibit strong facilitation and data analysis skills.
  • Possess the ability to participate in periodic aircraft familiarization flights.
  • Acquire and maintain proficiency in emergency procedures.
  • Be able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
  • Demonstrate the ability to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.
  • Be capable of calculating figures, amounts, prices, commissions, percentages, and interpreting graphs.
  • Possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Be available to work overtime as required.
  • Be willing and able to undertake domestic and international travel as required.
  • Be willing to work any shift or day of the week as needed.
  • Applicants will be subject to a US Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain/maintain the required level of security clearance.

Preferred Skills

  • An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable.

Security Responsibilities

The incumbent must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures. This includes the personal responsibility for proper marking and handling of all information and materials and refraining from divulging information or access to unauthorized personnel or outside the company without approval. All government and proprietary information is accessed and stored electronically on company-provided resources. Eligibility for a DoD Personal Security Clearance is required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role operates in office, classroom, and simulator environments, utilizing standard office equipment. The position requires working in a complex military training environment, communicating, and submitting reports using company, government, and personal computer devices, plus current telephone and fax systems. The work environment may involve risks of electrical shock and exposure to moving mechanical parts driven by high-pressure hydraulics. At times, exposure to extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises may occur. Physical demands include the ability to stand to conduct academic instruction, walk and/or climb stairs and ladders into simulators or aircraft cockpits, and stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery. The ability to detect odors or hear specific noises (e.g., bangs) to identify problems or flaws in simulators is also required.
