Position Summary:
CAE is seeking a highly qualified and experienced KC-135 Pilot Instructor to join its dedicated team. This pivotal role involves providing expert instruction on KC-135 aircraft systems and operational procedures across diverse training environments, including aircraft, classroom, simulator, and practical settings. The instructor serves as a critical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in developing new course curriculum and contributes to essential administrative functions vital to training program success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivers comprehensive instruction on KC-135 Pilot procedures within aircraft, classroom, and simulator environments.
- Conducts specialized training programs including Visual Threat Recognition Avoidance Training (VTRAT) and Crew Resource Management (CRM).
- Contributes as a Subject Matter Expert in the development of new training curricula and provides expert review of existing lessons and proposed modifications.
- Proactively identifies and suggests improvements to optimize training policies and procedures.
- Cultivates a positive learning environment and encourages the adoption of new technologies and tasks.
- Provides ground training for fellow crew members, offering diagnosis and remediation for student challenges.
- Assists with project and development initiatives as assigned.
- Manages administrative duties encompassing scheduling, record keeping, student progress monitoring, counseling, quality assurance, safety protocols, security procedures, and the maintenance of training programs and equipment.
- Ensures the safety of all attendees within the simulator environment and is comfortable with simulator motion.
- Capable of conducting prolonged academic instruction sessions (up to six hours daily) in both simulator and classroom settings.
- Maintains a high level of proficiency in the operation of essential KC-135 Aircrew Training Devices.
- Acquires and sustains proficiency in instrument, take-off, landing, and emergency procedures.
- Leverages prior aircraft operating experience to establish credibility and effectively engage students, a fundamental aspect of specialized aviation instruction.
- Performs other duties as necessary to support training operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- A minimum of eight years of total flying experience, including at least five years of military experience.
- Possesses a minimum of two years of experience specifically as a KC-135 Pilot flight instructor and in training management.
- Recent experience serving as a KC-135 Instructor Pilot or Evaluator Pilot is a mandatory requirement.
- Successful completion of a formal USAF Instructor training course.
- Demonstrates strong facilitation, data analysis, language, mathematical, and reasoning skills.
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex technical and procedural documents.
- Capable of responding effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints, and generating impactful oral and written presentations on complex subjects.
- Possesses the mathematical ability to calculate figures, amounts, and percentages, and to interpret graphs.
- Exhibits strong reasoning skills to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and formulate valid conclusions.
- Must be eligible to participate in periodic aircraft familiarization flights.
- Capable of performing duties with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work overtime, varying shifts, and on any day of the week as operational needs dictate.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The role necessitates the ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing stairs and ladders into simulators or aircraft cockpits; stooping, bending, and crawling. It requires the sensory ability to detect odors or noises indicating potential equipment issues. Domestic and international travel is required. The work environment primarily involves a standard office setting but includes potential exposure to electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, airborne particles, and significant noise levels within training device areas.
Security Requirements:
Adherence to all company security and data protection policies and procedures is paramount. The incumbent must be eligible for a DoD Personal Security Clearance. Strict compliance with U.S. Government contract requirements mandates that only U.S. citizens are eligible for this position.
