Overview

Role and Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To ensure the successful delivery of training simulation at the Medium Support Helicopter Aircrew Training Facility (MSHATF) Contract.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Conduct simulator training on PUMA HC 2.

+ The training will range from type conversion of ab-initio students to teaching basic tactics to squadron crews, as well as continuation and pre-deployment training.

+ You will be required to fulfil support roles within the Tactical Control Centre on other aircraft types.

+ You will be subject to periodic standardisation checks by RAF CFS agents and SH STANEVAL and internal CAE checks.

+ The safe, effective, and efficient management of training events. This includes the safety of personnel within the DMS and providing safety briefs when required.

+ Briefing and debrief of the sortie to the crew(s).

+ Setting up and conducting the sortie from either the on-board Instructor Operating Station or from the off-board Tactical Control Centre.

+ Use the ground mission support and planning systems or other system appropriate to your aircraft type to support the delivery of training.

+ Acting as a role player during the conduct of multi-aircraft sorties.

+ Discussing aspects of single and multi-ship operations as related to the training requirements.

+ Set-up and use of Debrief, Record and Playback (DRAP) facilities to debriefing crews.

+ Assessing the standard of performance.

+ Completing post-sortie documentation, including student performance reports and inputting of information onto the Training Management Information System.

+ Instructing the principles of Crew Resource Management.

+ Giving briefs on aircraft systems, emergency drills, Principles of Flight, Standard Operating Procedures and other specialist topics included in the conversion syllabi.

+ If required to qualify as an Instrument Rating Examiner in order to conduct Instrument Rating Tests (IRTs) within the simulator environment on the aircraft type or types on which you are qualified.

+ Designing and developing new Squadron Training Modules as directed by your Senior Instructor.

+ Originating and amending courseware as directed by your Senior Instructor.

+ Amending publications as appropriate.

+ Ensuring that your professional knowledge across the whole spectrum of the SH operations is of the highest standard.

+ Maintaining a good level of handling and non-handling skills / techniques in order to support actives such as, testing, evaluation, visits and fault finding.

+ Attend training courses and completing mandated training as directed by your Senior instructor / Chief Instructor or Manager Training Services UK & Nordics.

+ Liaising with your senior instructor, his deputy or the MLO about the impact of any major delays or faults that may impact the DMS sortie or schedule.

+ Reporting flight safety trends or occurrences to your senior and or submitting a DASOR.

In exceptional circumstances, you will be required to:

+ Operate the IOS/TCC on an aircraft type for which you are not qualified,

+ Undertake CBT/CAI instruction in the Ground school in the event that a Ground school Instructor is not available.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

+ An ex- military Central Flying School (CFS) accredited B1 Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI), with relevant role and preferably Puma HC 2 experience.

+ Good leadership and teaching skills.

+ Excellent Communication skills.

+ Good IT skills.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

+ Applicants must have the right to live and work in UK.

+ Applicants must be able to obtain or transfer Security Clearance which the Company sponsors (applicants must have lived continuously in the UK for the past 5 years in order to obtain security clearance) or currently holds NATO SC level Security Clearance that can be transferred from overseas to the UK.
