Position Overview: Flight Instructor

This is a pivotal role within a dynamic and safety-focused training environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive flight and ground school instruction to students pursuing various pilot certifications. The instructor will primarily operate the client's fleet of training aircraft, including the widely utilized C152, C172, and PA-28 airframes.

Working collaboratively under the direction of the Chief Flying Instructor (CFI), the Flight Instructor is instrumental in upholding the organization’s high standards of instruction, ensuring meticulous regulatory compliance, and cultivating a strong safety culture across all training programmes.

Key Responsibilities

The Flight Instructor is expected to perform the following core duties:

  • Delivers professional flight training on C152, C172, and PA-28 aircraft strictly in line with the Flying Order Book, covering advanced and foundational ratings, including:
    • UK Private Pilot Licence (PPL(A))
    • Instrument Meteorological Conditions / Instrument Rating (IR)(R)
    • Night Rating
  • Guides students effectively through all required flight manoeuvres and core competencies necessary to achieve relevant aviation ratings.
  • Provides robust ground school instruction to bolster students’ theoretical knowledge and preparation for examinations.
  • Monitors and accurately records student progress, ensuring the integrity and completion of all official training documentation.
  • Operates aircraft safely and proficiently, maintaining strict adherence to both national aviation legislation and established internal procedures.
  • Promotes and embeds a proactive safety culture across all instructional activities and organizational interactions.

Prerequisite Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must satisfy the following essential requirements:

  • Holds a current and valid Flight Instructor (FI(A)) or Class Rating Instructor (CRI(A)) qualification.
  • Possesses a valid Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL(A)) or a Private Pilot Licence (PPL(A)) with a minimum of 200 hours total flight time, including 150 hours as Pilot-In-Command (PIC).
  • Maintains a valid Single Engine Piston (SEP) (Land) rating.
  • Holds a valid medical certificate of the appropriate class necessary for instructional duties.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities and proven instructional skills.
  • Exhibits the ability to operate effectively within a team structure under the guidance of the Chief Flying Instructor (CFI).
  • Possesses comprehensive and current knowledge of aviation regulations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintains the ability to remain calm, composed, and effective when operating under pressure.
  • Displays strong interpersonal skills and professional communication abilities.
  • Shows proficiency in all aspects of flight planning and navigation techniques.
