Qualified Flying Instructor (EFT)
The Elementary Flying Training (EFT) Squadron at RAF Cranwell and RAF Barkston Heath is seeking a professional Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) to deliver world-class training to military aircrew. The successful candidate will instruct on the Grob 120TP ‘Prefect’, a high-performance, single-engine turboprop aircraft featuring a full glass cockpit and retractable undercarriage.
Core Responsibilities

Instruct the EFT syllabus to the highest instructional standards.

Conduct airborne instruction, including general handling, aerobatics, basic instrument flying, and low-level visual navigation (500 feet agl).

Deliver phase briefs, technical lessons, practical demonstrations, and synthetic training.

Achieve and maintain a Military Instructor Category from the RAF Central Flying School.

Develop and maintain EFT courseware, ensuring alignment with current best practices.

Progress to advanced instructional elements, including Close Formation Flying.

Engage fully with the RAF and internal Safety Culture within a customer-focused environment.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
-
Unrestricted Class One Medical.

CPL(A), FI(A), and Instrument Rating.

Minimum of 500 hours of flying experience or military equivalent.

Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Computer fluency, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Desirable

Aerobatics Rating.

Previous experience as a military-qualified service pilot or familiarity with the military environment.

Compensation
The starting salary is £54,000, increasing to £60,000 upon completion of training, £67,500 when fully qualified, and up to £72,500 for advanced qualifications.
