Position Summary
The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring students master both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. The instructor will manage essential administrative duties, including maintaining student records, assessing performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum. This role is pivotal in fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes student success and prepares them for rewarding careers in the aviation industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in aircraft maintenance principles, and contribute to the development of curricula that align with industry standards.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and provides individualized support to enhance academic success.
- Teach scheduled classes, creating a welcoming environment that fosters student engagement in aircraft maintenance subjects.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and campus leadership to develop curriculum, prepare course materials, and schedule classes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained for student use.
- Establish and maintain accurate academic and attendance records for all students, submitting required documentation in accordance with institutional procedures.
- Proactively notify supervisors of any current or potential student issues and implement proven retention techniques to support student success.
- Complete assigned performance-based teacher education modules and participate in classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and professional development.
- Attend and lead in-service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory institutional functions.
- Assist in managing the inventory of department equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests as needed.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Supervisor to contribute to the overall success of the program.
Required Qualifications
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate.
- A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A strong command of both theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance, with contemporary industry knowledge.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven, and compliance-oriented educational environment.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized, with the capacity to multitask and perform well under pressure.
- Demonstrated high level of integrity, a strong work ethic, and professional conduct.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with a strong emphasis on customer service.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
- A positive, team-oriented attitude with the flexibility to work outside of scheduled hours when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- An Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with CampusNexus student information system.
Work Schedule
Two schedule options are available:
- Option 1: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm; Friday, 7:00 am - 2:00 pm
- Option 2: Monday - Thursday, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm; Friday, 7:00 am - 2:00 pm
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position is up to $41 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and includes a $2,500 sign-on bonus. In addition to a competitive salary, AIM offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support professional growth and personal well-being.
