Position Summary: Aircraft Mechanic Instructor
The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring that students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. In addition to teaching, the instructor manages essential administrative tasks, such as maintaining accurate records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum. This pivotal role fosters a supportive learning environment that promotes student success and thoroughly prepares them for rewarding careers in the dynamic aviation industry.
This position ensures that the aircraft maintenance training program effectively prepares students for careers in aviation, aligning with industry standards and contributing significantly to the overall success of the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engaging and effective teaching in aircraft maintenance principles, while also developing curricula that aligns seamlessly with current industry standards.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that actively encourages student participation and offers individualized support to enhance student success.
- Oversee critical administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate academic and attendance records for each student, and ensuring full compliance with industry regulations and institutional procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to develop and refine curriculum, prepare course materials, and schedule classes, ensuring alignment with aviation industry standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained and readily available for student use.
- Proactively notify the Supervisor of any current or potential issues requiring immediate attention and implement proven retention techniques to support student success.
- Complete assigned performance-based teacher education modules, participate actively in classroom observations and instructor evaluations, and respond constructively to student feedback to continually enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Attend and/or lead in-service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory gatherings to ensure ongoing professional development and foster collaboration with peers.
- Assist in managing the inventory of department equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests to the Supervisor or appropriate personnel as needed.
- Monitor student attendance closely, alerting the Supervisor to any absences, particularly at the first, third, and fifth occurrences, to address potential retention issues.
- Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the aircraft maintenance training program.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Possession of an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate is mandatory.
- A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance is required; special considerations may be given for more diverse experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong command of both theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance, coupled with contemporary knowledge and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Ability to thrive effectively in a fast-paced, performance-driven, and compliance-oriented educational setting.
- Highly detail-oriented, analytical, and exceptionally organized, with the capability to multitask efficiently and perform consistently well under pressure.
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity, a strong work ethic, and unwavering professionalism in all interactions.
- Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on providing excellent customer service in an educational context.
- Highly motivated and goal-oriented, exhibiting strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer proficiency, including expertise in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Willingness to work outside of regular shifts, including evenings and weekends, as necessary or requested by the Supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications
- An Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with CampusNexus.

Available Work Schedules:
- Option 1: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM EST
- Option 2 (Evening Shift): Monday - Thursday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM EST & Fridays, 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
- Option 3 (Weekend Shift): Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position ranges from $36 - $41 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors. Additionally, a $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered.
