Position Summary
The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. In addition to teaching, the instructor manages essential administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum. This pivotal role involves fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes student success and thoroughly prepares them for rewarding careers in the aviation industry. The instructor ensures the aircraft maintenance training program effectively aligns with industry standards and contributes significantly to the overall success of the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides engaging and effective teaching in aircraft maintenance principles while developing curricula that aligns with industry standards.
- Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and offers individualized support to enhance student success.
- Oversees administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Teaches classes on a scheduled basis, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment that fosters student engagement and enhances learning in aircraft maintenance.
- Collaborates with the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to develop and refine curriculum, prepare course materials, and schedule classes, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained for student use.
- Establishes and maintains accurate academic and attendance records for each student, submitting attendance, grades, evaluations, and other documentation as required by institutional procedures.
- Proactively notifies the Supervisor of any current or potential issues that require immediate attention and implements proven retention techniques to support student success.
- Completes assigned performance-based teacher education modules, participating in classroom observations and instructor evaluations, and responding to student feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Attends and/or leads in-service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory gatherings to ensure ongoing professional development and collaboration with peers.
- Assists in managing the inventory of department equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests to the Supervisor or appropriate personnel as needed.
- Monitors student attendance closely, alerting the Supervisor to any absences, particularly at the first, third, and fifth occurrences, to address potential retention issues.
- Completes other tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor, contributing to the overall success of the aircraft maintenance program.
Required Qualifications
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate.
- Minimum three (3) years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance (special considerations will be given for more diverse experience).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong command of both theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance, with contemporary knowledge and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven, and compliance-oriented educational setting.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized, with the capability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity, a strong work ethic, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on customer service in an educational context.
- Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, exhibiting exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Willingness to work outside of regular shifts as necessary or requested by the Supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- CampusNexus experience.
Work Schedule
Two primary schedule options are available:
- Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- OR
- Monday - Thursday: 3:30 PM - 10:30 PM, Friday: 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM

Compensation and Benefits
