Position Purpose

The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor plays a pivotal role in delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring students master both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. Beyond teaching, the instructor manages essential administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance curriculum development. This position is instrumental in cultivating a supportive learning environment that promotes student success and thoroughly prepares them for rewarding careers within the aviation sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides engaging and effective instruction in aircraft maintenance principles, while developing curriculum that adheres to rigorous industry standards.
  • Cultivates a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that actively encourages student participation and offers individualized support to maximize student success.
  • Oversees comprehensive administrative duties, including the meticulous maintenance of accurate academic and attendance records, and ensures strict compliance with all industry regulations and institutional standards.
  • Collaborates effectively with the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to develop, refine, and schedule course materials and classes, ensuring alignment with current industry best practices.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained and readily available for student use.
  • Proactively identifies and reports any current or potential student issues to the Supervisor, implementing proven retention techniques to support continuous student progress.
  • Completes assigned performance-based teacher education modules, actively participates in classroom observations and instructor evaluations, and thoughtfully responds to student feedback to continually enhance instructional effectiveness.
  • Attends and/or leads in-service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory gatherings to ensure ongoing professional development and foster collaborative peer relationships.
  • Assists in managing the inventory of department equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests to the Supervisor or appropriate personnel as required.
  • Monitors student attendance diligently, promptly alerting the Supervisor to any absences, particularly at the first, third, and fifth occurrences, to proactively address potential retention challenges.
  • Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor, contributing broadly to the overall success of the aircraft maintenance program.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct, hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance. Special consideration will be given for more diverse or extensive experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong command of both theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance, complemented by contemporary knowledge and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to thrive effectively in a fast-paced, performance-driven, and compliance-oriented educational environment.
  • Demonstrates exceptional detail-orientation, strong analytical skills, and high organizational capabilities, with the proven ability to multitask and perform proficiently under pressure.
  • Exhibits a high level of integrity, a strong work ethic, and unwavering professionalism in all interactions.
  • Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills, with a significant emphasis on customer service within an educational context.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with robust problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer proficiency, including advanced skills in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Willingness to work outside of regular shifts as necessary or requested by the Supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with CampusNexus.

Work Schedule

The position offers two potential work schedules:

  • Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Monday - Thursday: 3:30 PM - 10:30 PM, and Friday: 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges up to $34 per hour, with the final rate determined by experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
