Position Purpose
The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor plays a crucial role in delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction within assigned courses. This position ensures that students gain a solid understanding of both theoretical concepts and practical applications essential for aircraft maintenance. Beyond teaching responsibilities, the Instructor manages vital administrative duties, including maintaining student records, evaluating performance, and collaborating with faculty to continuously enhance the curriculum. This role is fundamental in cultivating a supportive and effective learning environment that promotes student achievement and successfully prepares them for professional careers in the aviation industry.
Responsibilities
The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for a range of duties critical to the educational mission:
- Delivering scheduled classes and creating an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere that encourages student engagement and optimizes learning in aircraft maintenance principles.
- Collaborating with academic leadership, including the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director, to develop, refine, and schedule curriculum and course materials, ensuring alignment with current industry standards.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained and readily available for student use.
- Accurately establishing and maintaining academic and attendance records for each student, submitting all required documentation such as attendance reports, grades, and evaluations according to institutional procedures.
- Proactively identifying and reporting any current or potential issues to supervisory personnel that require immediate attention and implementing proven retention techniques to support student success.
- Completing assigned performance-based teacher education modules, actively participating in classroom observations and instructor evaluations, and thoughtfully responding to student feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Attending and/or leading in-service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory gatherings to facilitate ongoing professional development and collaborative teamwork.
- Assisting with the management of department equipment and supply inventory, submitting replenishment requests as needed.
- Monitoring student attendance meticulously, alerting the Supervisor to absences, particularly upon the first, third, and fifth occurrences, to proactively address potential retention challenges.
- Undertaking other tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor, contributing to the overall success and efficient operation of the aircraft maintenance program.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate.
- A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance, with special consideration given for more diverse experience profiles.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A strong command of both the theoretical principles and practical applications of aircraft maintenance, coupled with contemporary industry knowledge and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven, and compliance-oriented educational setting.
- Highly detail-oriented, analytical, and exceptionally organized, capable of multitasking effectively and performing competently under pressure.
- Demonstration of a high level of integrity, a strong work ethic, and unwavering professionalism in all interactions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on delivering excellent customer service within an educational context.
- Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and possessing strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, exhibiting exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer proficiency, including strong working knowledge of MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Willingness to work outside of standard shifts, including evenings and weekends, as necessary or requested by supervisory personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of an Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Experience utilizing the CampusNexus system.
Work Schedule Options
- Option 1: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm EST
- Option 2 (Evening): Monday - Thursday, 3:00 pm EST - 11:30 pm EST; Fridays, 11:00 am - 5:00 pm EST
- Option 3 (Weekend): Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm EST

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position ranges from $36 to $41 per hour, based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and other relevant criteria. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is also offered. In addition to a competitive hourly rate, AIM provides a comprehensive benefits package, including:
