University-NewportrrPosition SummaryrrDemonstrate and teach patient care
in the classroom and practicum setting to nursing students. Facilitates
meaningful learning of the course competencies and proactively supports
all facets of the learning environment.rrThe Instructor of Practical
Nursing must demonstrate patience, strong organizational, delegation,
and interpersonal skills, and perform in a professional manner. This
position is a faculty appointment and will be housed on the Jonesboro
campus. Some travel might be required to other campuses.rrEssential
Duties and Responsibilitiesrr Initiate, facilitate, and moderate
classroom discussions.r Prepare and deliver lectures to Practical
Nursing students on topics such as pharmacology, mental health nursing,
and community health care practices.r Keep abreast of developments in
the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and
participating, in professional development activities.r Prepare course
materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.r
Supervise student’s laboratory and clinical work.r Plan, evaluate, and
revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of
instruction.r Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other
required records.r Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to
advise and assist students.r Act as a course and program advisor to
students who have interest in and are enrolled in the Practical Nursing
program.r Maintains accessibility to students via email, phone, or
personal conferences.r Maintains course/student records such as student
grades, attendance, and training activity details, in accordance with
FERPA regulations and submit records by established deadlines.r
Participates in college professional development activities.r Posts and
keeps office hours to facilitate interaction with students, the college
community, and the public.r Serves on standing AD HOC committees,
advisory boards, hiring committees, faculty senate, or as a student
organization advisor. Attends local, regional, state, or national
meetings where required or necessary for the discipline.r Mentors and
assists in orienting new faculty, either formally or informally where
appropriate or required by department or division.r Educating High
Schools students within the Practical Nursing Program.r Other duties as
assigned.rrEducation and ExperiencerrRequired: Unencumbered Registered
Nursing License and able to participate in ArkansasrrRequired: A minimum
of 2 years of experience working in the Acute Care settingrrPreferred:
Bachelor’s degree or ADN with an unencumbered Registered Nursing
licenserrPreferred: Previous experience in a clinical and simulation lab
operationsrrSkills and Attributes Preferred:rr Knowledge of patient
simulation, technologies, and applications.r Proficiency in MS software
applications, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well
as internet and database applications.r Ability to work with internal
and external individuals from different disciplines and different levels
of training.r Strong written and verbal communication skills.r
Self-motivated and ability to work effectively in a team environment.r
Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environment; able to work
evenings/weekends on as needed basis.r Excellent organizational
skills.rrRESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENTrrResponsible
for the maintenance of all departmental facilities and
equipment.rrCOMMUNICATION SKILLSrrExcellent communication skills are
required. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and policy/procedure
manuals so others will understand; Ability to effectively present
informatio and respond to questions from faculty, administration or the
general public.rrCRITICAL THINKING SKILLSrrAbility to solve complex
problems and deal with a variety of unknown variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists.rrSUPERVISION RECEIVEDrrUnder
direction of the Director of Nursing, working from policies and general
directives.rrADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENTrrKnowledge of business and
management principles involved in strategic planning, resource
allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production
methods, and coordination of people and
resources.rrPLANNINGrrConsiderable responsibility with regard to general
assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of
performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a group of
employees.rrDECISION MAKINGrrPerforms work operations which permit
frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance and also
frequent opportunity for decision-making of significant importance,
either of which would significantly affect the operations of the
