About the Role
The Instructor, Ground Operations Training is a critical role within the Airport and Cargo Divisions, specifically within the Ground Operations Training Team. This position directly impacts team members through the facilitation of training courses, the development of new training content, and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate American Airlines ground operations training programs.
- Engage, develop, and guide learners effectively.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically to foster a welcoming learning environment.
- Provide timely and effective feedback to enhance course facilitation and content quality.
- Collaborate with other members of the training organization on various projects.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities and materials.
- Support and participate in special projects and programs, including pilot classes for new training initiatives.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with airport and corporate leadership.
- Travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, to facilitate courses and provide mentorship and support.
- Work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience.
- Two years of experience in an airport environment with knowledge of ramp operations or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in classroom facilitation and management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mainline ramp experience.
- Mainline operations or control center experience.
- Proficient understanding of adult learning principles.
- Proficiency with programs and software relevant to ramp and/or control center operations (e.g., RampLink+, SABRE, DECS, GET, Realtime).

- Effective presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to command a room, inspire confidence, and represent the training organization professionally.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
- Effective planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to pass FAA criminal background checks for SIDA access privileges, if applicable.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license as required by local authorities, if applicable.
