Aviation Plane Captain
Overview
A dedicated and highly skilled Aviation Plane Captain is sought to ensure the safe and efficient operation of aircraft within a dynamic flight line environment. This pivotal role encompasses comprehensive aircraft handling, servicing, and meticulous inspections, alongside providing essential technical guidance and operational support. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining stringent safety standards and operational readiness for various aviation platforms.
Key Responsibilities
The Aviation Plane Captain performs a wide range of critical duties, including but not limited to:
- Executing daily and turn-around aircraft inspections in strict adherence to established procedures.
- Initiating and accurately completing all required maintenance documentation and forms.
- Conducting aircraft fuel sampling and servicing in compliance with established protocols.
- Directing and managing aircraft launch and recovery operations, including serving as an aircraft taxi director.
- Performing aircraft towing and acting as an aircraft brake rider when necessary.
- Securing aircraft through proper tie-down and covering procedures.
- Providing expert technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to team members.
- Utilizing two-way communication equipment effectively during operations.
- Ensuring rigorous compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, Hazardous Waste management, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
- Upholding all general and industrial safety rules and regulations pertinent to contract, facility, and job assignments.
- Safeguarding the safety, security, and preservation of all assigned government and company equipment.
- Delivering professional and courteous customer service.
- Operating portable firefighting equipment as required.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work center.
- Performing other aviation-related duties as assigned to support mission readiness.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following essential requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of two (2) years of direct experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary government/company licenses, qualifications, certifications, and security clearances for the position.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating effectively in the English language, with the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated thorough knowledge of applicable aviation safety and maintenance manuals.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, including aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling techniques, common hand tools, and standard operational safety requirements for aircraft.
- Successful completion of a certified Plane Captain training program and written certification, with required semi-annual re-qualification.
- Qualification on all assigned Type/Model/Series (T/M/S) aircraft.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Availability to work all assigned shifts and schedules, including potential irregular hours.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, crouching, kneeling, carrying, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level.
- Capable of pushing or pulling weight up to 70 pounds.
- Possess close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Normal range hearing is required.
- May involve exposure to hazardous materials and potentially require the use of a respirator.
- Requires excellent eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Preferred Qualifications
Highly desirable qualifications include:
- Direct experience with F-18E/F, EA-18G, E-2C, and/or MH-60S aircraft platforms.
- Relevant certifications such as Hazardous Waste Communications Training, FOD and TCP Awareness Training, ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness, and Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
- Licensing for operation of various support equipment, including tow tractors, nitrogen servicing carts, engine wash carts, and engine start units.
Compensation and Benefits
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $50.66, consistent with industry or collective bargaining agreements. A comprehensive benefits package is provided to eligible employees.
