The Plane Captain is responsible for a wide range of aircraft handling, servicing, and inspection duties. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of aircraft, providing essential support for flight line activities. The Plane Captain will also provide technical guidance and instruction to other team members in related roles, such as Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper.
The Plane Captain position requires a range of physical movements and postures common to shop/hanger/flight line maintenance activities. This includes bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, kneeling, and working in potentially tiring or uncomfortable positions. The role demands eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift objects up to 70 pounds. The candidate must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day. Additionally, the position requires close vision, including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Normal hearing is essential. The use of a respirator may be required.
The work environment can vary, ranging from a comfortable indoor setting to an outdoor environment subject to inclement weather conditions, including extreme temperature changes, wind, rain, etc. Exposure to high noise hazards is possible, as well as potential electrical shock hazards. The Plane Captain may also encounter fumes or airborne particles.
