Plane Captain

Overview

The Plane Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, servicing, and inspection of aircraft. This role encompasses a wide range of duties, including pre-operational inspections, fueling, and ground support equipment operations. Additionally, the Plane Captain provides technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other aviation personnel.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position include a range of movements and postures typically associated with shop/hanger/flight line maintenance activities. These may include bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, kneeling, and working in tiring, uncomfortable positions. The Plane Captain must possess eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. They may be required to lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds. The position requires the ability to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day. Additionally, close vision, including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are essential. The ability to hear at the normal range is also required. The use of a respirator may be necessary.

Work Environment:

The work environment can vary from comfortable to challenging, with exposure to inclement weather, such as extreme temperatures, wind, rain, etc. The Plane Captain may be required to work in areas with high noise hazards and may be exposed to electrical shock hazards, fumes, or airborne particles.
