Role Summary
The Inflight Content Developer II is an individual contributor responsible for the comprehensive development of critical training resources for Alaska Airlines. This pivotal role focuses on designing and creating engaging Instructor-led lesson plans, dynamic presentations, and interactive eLearning modules to facilitate effective blended learning experiences for front-line aviation workgroups.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive training content and innovative learning solutions for front-line aviation workgroups.
- Navigate complex challenges to translate learning objectives into effective training programs that cultivate required behaviors and elevate competency levels.
- Apply industry-leading instructional design methodologies to craft and refine diverse content deliverables, including eLearning modules, instructor-led lesson plans, and classroom materials, ensuring strict adherence to established quality and content standards.
- Leverage cutting-edge multimedia tools and technologies to engineer engaging and interactive learning experiences.
- Provide expert recommendations on design specifications, storyboards, and simulations to optimize learning outcomes.
- Facilitate collaborative formal and informal content reviews with subject matter experts, key stakeholders, and team members.
- Maintain transparent project status reporting, proactively identifying potential issues and escalating concerns to management.
- Manage and resolve content update requests stemming from identified defects, product enhancements, and root cause analyses, guaranteeing the delivery of high-quality internal learning products.
- Proactively research and recommend new technologies to continuously enhance content development processes and standards, ensuring alignment with or surpassing of industry learning benchmarks.
- Proficiently utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) for course administration, including uploading, testing, structure creation and editing, archiving, and collaborating with LMS administrators to uphold best practices.
- Independently manage moderately complex projects with limited supervision, encompassing timelines, content development, scriptwriting, and the execution of video and audio projects.
- Mentor and guide the professional development of temporary team members contributing to training content initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience applying adult learning principles, eLearning, and multimedia development.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as learning, curriculum design, education, graphic design/production, or communications, or an additional two (2) years of directly relevant training/experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience with multimedia creation and manipulation.
- Proficiency with one or more eLearning authoring tools, specifically Articulate Storyline 360 or Adobe Captivate.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a proven capacity to manage project and individual schedules with minimal supervision.
- Adeptness at quickly analyzing the impact of development changes on a content project and adjusting workload appropriately.
- Ability to act as a knowledgeable consultant regarding Content Development methodology, standards, and best practices.
- Capability to create compelling, functional, and engaging visual designs for in-person or virtual training environments.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of current training presentation products and emerging technologies for remote workforce training.
- Prior experience working with Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360.
- Experience in creating simulations, VR training, gamification design, and/or recording screencasts.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $78,000 - $99,600 per year.
Compensation will be determined based on various factors, including location, relevant experience, skillset, and internal equity. Alaska Airlines is committed to fair, unbiased compensation and competitive benefits across all operating locations. Please note that hiring typically occurs within the specified range, not at the absolute top.
